Subject: Poser 8 and Vue 6

I was wondering if anyone had a good import method to view besides the Vue native import for Poser.  I want to use Poser figures in Vue, but I know if won't see the new Poser--I have Vue 6 Infinite and am trying not to upgrade.

Any tips would be helpful.

Well, basic  .obj export from Poser should work for static models, but you may have to copy all the textures to the same folder as the .obj. Plus, you will lose any procedural materials/shaders and transparency settings and basic material properties may need to be adjusted. Will Vue 6 not read P8 .pz3s?

From what I've read, no since it first asks you to point to a Poser application and it won't recognize Poser 8 because it is a new edition.

Perhaps I should install an easlier version of Poser for this purpose, but I've been trying to avoid installing another instance of the same application on my computer.

Try this Tomsde:

Where it asks you to point to your Poser application, put in Poser 7, then hit the browse button and point that to your Poser 8 runtime, it should work, try it!

Sounds like that might work or create a dummy Poser 7.exe As long as you aren't using the live integration features I wouldn't think that Vue actually uses Poser for anything.

As I responded to the other thread, I have been able to import pz3 from Poser 8 only if the pz3 came from the Poser 8 Library.  I tried my imported Poser 7 Runtime that is in Poser 8, those would not load in Vue.

I've had no trouble importing P8 PZ3s into Vue 6 Infinite, so I must be doing something right... but I don't know what.

I can't get my Vue 6 Xstream to load PZ3's without asking me to manualy locate every bitmap.
I think its down to Eon  making an update so that Vue 6 can see Poser 8 runtimes ? .
