Subject: Why are some hair textures not visible in pose?

Hello all. I'm still a noob and working with Poser 7.

Question: Why is it that some textures (mostly I've noticed this with hair models) do not show up in Pose mode, but show up in renders? .... The hair just shows up white, and loading new Mats does change it in renders, but you can't see what you're doing in pose. This is aggravating at times and I don't know what causes it. Can someone answer please? Thanks!

Some hair figures/props have the display mode set to something other than "Textured" (usually Cartoon or Wireframe) to avoid any transmaps making it difficult to see the affect of morphs etc.

You can change this either temporarily by changing the display mode for the figure/element using the GUI or permanently by editing the CR2/HR2 file.

Okay thanks. What I'm referring to may actually be a bug rather than changing the display setting, because I already looked into that and it was set properly (to view fully colored and textured).

I reloaded the figure and suddenly it started appearing properly again. - I had tried this before but it didn't work until now. My guess is that something changed after the pc was rebooted. I've noticed a few bugs in Poser 7 like that - they won't go away just restarting the program, the pc has to be restarted. Weird.

There used to be a pose file out there that made hair visible even if changing the display settings on the hair doesn't work. It was VERY handy, but I suffered a Huge Crash and I lost it. Maybe someone here knows where it is?

A common "problem" with hr2 or prop hair is as follows:

A figure is in the scene with conforming clothing and/or other items.  The figure is not selected when the hair is loaded.  The hair will not take MATs.

The solution is to reparent the hair to the figure and reapply the MATs.

Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
