Subject: September Challenge - REFLECTIONS

tresamie ( ) posted Sat, 05 September 2009 at 4:56 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 5:49 PM

Hi All!

We have a  new challenge!  helanker has posed an interesting and fun-sounding challenge!

REFLECTIONS!

This sounds like a fascinating challenge!  It can be interpreted literally, with photos including mirrors or still water, or it can be a more philosophical rendering, reflections on life or events.  The challenge is for everyone, regardless of their creative tools.  Everyone can enter, whether they are using 2D, 3D, fractal, animation or any other software;  whether they are photographers, writers or even musicians.  The challenge arena is open to all.  Come and join in, test your creative tools against all the others!

The Challenge begins immediately and will close to entries at the end of September.   I will give you a few days notice.  All entries will be to this thread or with a link to a larger image. Voting will begin then in the same thread.

You may enter an existing work if you like, but we would prefer to see a new work created for this challenge... it IS a challenge after all, lol!  You may enter more than one work, but remember that in the voting, each entry will be judged separately; we vote for an entry, not an artist. If you choose to enter more than once, please NAME EACH OF YOUR ENTRIES!

Show us your inspiration!!

~Viv

Good!  That includes several types of symmetry, so the fractal people can be happy, too.  I'm not sure that it is possible to write a meaningful palindromic poem, but writers always have memoirs and mirrors.

Thank you friends. :)
HEHE ! It is not windows, but cheramic tiles on a table, where I have a vase with begonia flowers and they make the shiny tiles red from the reflection, when the sun is shining outside :-)
I wish I could send in a picture of the table to show you, but then I have only ONE picture left to post.

Maybe we should have such a challenge without winner and unlimitid posts. WOW!   What couldnt it be?  Reflections are one of my MANY favorite subjects for a photo.

Yes, dont they?  I took the shot yesterday at a wedding party. You might think, they are just made of glass. I guess they are, but they have a metallic surface, so you cant look through them. Its pure reflections. I find them awesome too.

ThunderStone ( ) posted Mon, 21 September 2009 at 12:41 PM

They do have glasses which are coated with a metallic surfactant. I saw something like that on TV on a cable show called "How It's Made".  Very informative.

Title ~ For the love of it.

Reflecting upon my own experiences lately with digital art, life, changes...

This is mainly about the love I have for Science Fiction. It makes me think about all the awesome work I have seen over the years as a member here. Well not just here but all over the net really.

Rendered in poser 5 and tweaked in photoshop

Enjoy :)

hi!  it's been awhile since i've entered a challenge... hope you like this one, drawn free-hand in powerpoint (click link for full-size version of the lit candle; the smaller jpg file shown here looks pixellated, and doesn't quite do the image justice).  it represents the same candle, extinguished and lit, in metaphorical visualization of the mirror images despair and hope.  i call it 'hope rekindled'...  enjoy!

What a fantastic group of images!   It always amazes me how many interpretations we get in this Arena.

I would like to close the contest to entries on Saturday night, Oct 10 at 23:59 Renderosity time.  We will then vote (in this same thread), directions will be given at that time.    I hope to start the new challenge on Oct. 15.  Please get your final entries in!

tresamie ( ) posted Wed, 07 October 2009 at 5:25 PM

Yes!  The challenge is still on, til Oct. 10.  Rather than get tangled up with other forums' challenges and contests, I thought it might be better to start on the 15th of the month, so we will try that this coming month.

Great entries!  This seems to be a very fun challenge for everyone :)

It's time to vote!  There are some great entries this month, we have two pages, so be sure to look at all the entries.  It's time to let the voting begin!  The voting will be in this thread, after this post.  As a voter, you get to choose your 3 favorite entries, giving each of them 3, 2 or 1 points.  Remember, you are choosing an entry, not an artist.  If someone has posted more than one entry, you need to indicate which is your choice.

Your vote should look something like this:

Life's A - "Mirror" - 3 points
Ref - "Lect" - 2 points
See it - "Again" - 1 point

Feel free to nominate Honorable Mentions or make comments.
