Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
I think if you have one of those 3D-something mice (forgot the name but Poser supports it so you should be able to find the name somewhere in the docs) in place of a regular mouse, you can set it up to react that way.
Other than that.. unfortunately no.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
yeh, I'm not gonna buy it, I know the brand your talking about TG and Wilber. I had thought about them in the past but I would just like to know if I can set something in poser itself.
Yes /No?
The only one I know off is keeping ALT pressed when your in the scene window. The cursor will change to a camera and when you press the left mouse button and move the mouse, the scene / camera view will rotate.
There may be more like this.

Food for thought.....

Yes Mariner, I would like to know if I can use JUST the mouse, the right and left mouse button, and a key on the keytboard to mimic those 3 controls you have circled in the UI.
hold down the space bar for pan left, right, up, and down.
hold down ALT for orbit controls
hold CTRL and space bar for pan in and out.

oh, and the 3dConnexion controller.
Worth every penny.
I hate using poser without it.

the orbit controls you get on the interface only control the x and y orbit. the keyboard thing gives you movement in the z orbit.
the only way i know to prevent that is to set the limits on your camera and turn on "use limits". Unfortunately this will enforce the limits on all your scene... or maybe that would be good.

i think it could theoritcly be possible that you could edit the cr2 file in your poser directory to force limits but I don't really have time to test that out.
I've seen the cm2 files for the basic cameras but i dont remember exactly where they are of if that would work.

Quote - hold down the space bar for pan left, right, up, and down.
hold down ALT for orbit controls
hold CTRL and space bar for pan in and out.
Figured holding down ALT wasn't the only one. Thanks!

Awsome Tyger, I'll give it a try as soon as i can!!
I hate having to use the controls on the screen, I'm just so accustomed to other 3d apps........
Can't wait to give it a go.
Oh, Which 3dC controller you have? There's like 3 (or more?) of them. I was tempted in the past but really didn't know why i should bother....I figured I better focus time and cash in learning the software 1st.
Which one you have?
I have the Space Navigator. I couldn't see spending all that extra money to get a few more buttons.
I tell ya, it makes life so much easier... especially if you need to move the camera a long way.... no more click drag click drag click drag click drag click drag click drag.
I've only had one minor bug with it. When moving with the Navigator, it takes over control from your mouse, you can still move your cursor, but it won't affect the program. Occasionally it wont "release" control when you stop moving and your mouse will act like it can't pick anything in poser. Just give the navigator a little bump (or unplug it) and it will jolt the camera a tiny bit and release control back to the cursor.

or recalibrate the Spacenav from it's controls in the systray.. that fixes it.

This may be too much to ask, but is there a way I can set up the interface to scroll, zoom, x,y,z to act like Maya?
example... hold down alt and right mouse button to rotate left and right (instead of dolly) and alt right mouse to zoom in and out, etc......
I havnt found a way and was just wondering if there was something I missed. I would like to be able to customize but don't know if I'm asking too much.
Let me know gurus!
