Subject: Emergency sale

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 14 October 2009 at 6:21 PM · edited Mon, 13 January 2025 at 11:11 AM

As some of you may recall, we have recently posted regarding an emergency situation that has hit our family causing us to seek out buyers for numerous products in order to raise the funds needed to get us through this hardship.  A number of parties have expressed interest in many of our products and in order to better facilitate a fair sale of certain items/product lines, we have opted to place them in auction at eBay for a three day period.

The eBay auction may be found at:

Kitsune: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=170394717224

Raptorians: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170394718861

Please understand, the outright sale of any of our products is something we have been extremely reluctant to do, but situations being as they are for myself and family, it is a necessity that we raise funds asap. There are some other products which we intend to offer in a similar manner, while some products and lines have already found new permanent homes. I appreciate all the well wishes we've received in the past week and hope that once this is all settled, we will be able to return to a level of production and interaction with the community that we have enjoyed for so many years.

Also, just to clarify some rumors that I've been receiving questions about, we are not going out of business, but a number of important changes are being made for us. First and foremost, we are partnering very strongly with RuntimeDNA. The reasons for this are many, and I am very excited by what the future should hold for S1M in conjunction with RuntimeDNA. Syyd, Colm and Eric have been an incredible help through this very difficult time and I just want to show my appreciation for that. We do intend to maintain our website at sixus1.com, though primarily as a blog and point of contact for our clients and fans of our work. In time, we intend to bring our store to a close with more news of decisions beyond that to follow.  There are many questions I have received throughout the situation we've been dealing with to which I only want to say again that it is a personal crisis, albeit a costly one, and I simply wish the specifics to remain private. Certain friends very close to me in the community know varying aspects of what we're going through and I expect them to respect our privacy and thank them for doing so.

Anyone interested in discussing anything related to these sales may contact me via email at llgarner@sixus1media.com

Thanks. -Les

BTW: I understand this may end up being moved, but because of the situation I need to make this information available to the widest number of people as possible. Should it be deemed necessary to move the post to another forum, I understand.

Les,

First off, I'm so sorry to hear that things are not going well and hope and pray that things get better very soon.

I took a look at your eBay posting.  Just a suggestion... you might want to add some details about what you're selling.  Are you surrendering all of your rights to the mesh for this model (including your ability to create anything from that mesh in the future)?  Does the owner have full ownership to resell it, make derivative works, etc.?

And, you might want to describe how you made it.  After the recent questions about how a particular content creator's female character (and others) were made, I'm sure anyone willing to fork over nearly 2 grand would want to make sure that they understood your process and sources (if any) for making the meshes and textures.

Hope this helps in some way and I hope the bids go sky-high on your products, :-)

just to express my hopes that this turns out well and the items fetch a good price, and to mention to ando that we've known sixus for years as a trusted creator and distributor of original models, so we can attest to that if there are any questions.
the terms on the ebay pages are clear enough - buyer gets full ownership and distribution rights.  this means that if it sells 10% as well as apollo did in the early going, the buyer might gross more than $6,000 american.  I ain't a lawyer.

Sure, I know who Sixus is -- well-respected.  I just meant that it would be helpful for those looking at it on eBay who are unfamiliar (e.g. someone from a large CG firm).

No insult intended.

Good luck to you, I'm considering the same avenue. Finally got an interview for some Temp work in a technical position for Fri.

Funny/Sad part, the position is with a company that took the inexperienced guy (read lower pay) than the one (me) with 30 years experience about a month ago. I really can't wait to meet this guy. I hope I can hold onto my temper til the gig is up......hehehe

At this rate I should be able to put something in my wish list in 2 or 3 years.

My best of luck to you as well.  I know what it's like to do what you can to balance things, and will wish for better times for you and Rebbekah.  I still have the winged dragon (can't remember the name from the top of my head right now) that I purchased in '04 and most of your creative freebies which I've yet to use.

These are tough times indeed, but with hope and perseverance, we can overcome barriers.

Good luck and best wishes from me too!

Btw.
I don't know if you are interested in selling the products to Daz...
But maybe they would be interested in buying them for the full price.
