Subject: serial number problems

benney ( ) posted Fri, 16 October 2009 at 8:03 AM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 1:11 PM

I am wondering if any one can help me with this issue please.

A friend of mine stayed with me for a few weeks and installed his copy of Carrara7pro on to my PC so I can eveluate it etc. As a result I have purchased the program and installed it but have found that it automatically uses my friends serial number.

How do I delete my friends serial number so I can input my own.

Any help with this would be of great help.

Ian...

I'm not sure.  I searched my registry to see if there was an obvious key with it, but didn't find any.  I would check at DAZ and see if they know.

I will try that but we all know how fast they are at replying (grin!)

No Kidding.  LOL

When I had problems with an install I needed to access the serial number and DAZ had it hidden so I could not find it. They would not tell me where.
While you wait for a DAZ reply, you could try creating a new user with no rights to the current programs and reload your program as this new user.

Did you completely uninstall the program and delete any left over folders and files before you tried to reinstall it?  Also if you are comfortable doing this, you could use regedit and zap any entry that refers to Carrara.  I seem to remember a friend of mine having a similar issue and it turned out that the Carrara uninstaller had left a few config files in it's install folder.

I have just tried the regedit approach and deleted everything that refered to carrara and still no joy but thanks for hat one because it helped me deleted a load of garbage that I didn't realize still existed.
