I don't know why everyone is wondering about the upgrade price from V7I to V8I, as e-on already published them way back in an old newsletter from May 2009:

All features included in Vue 7.5 Infinite and xStream will obviously be part of the future Vue 8 Infinite/xStream (on top of many new features that cannot be disclosed at this point).

The cost of upgrading to Vue 7.5 and Vue 8 will be as follows:

**    * Upgrade from Vue 7 to Vue 7.5: $295 (Infinite) and $495 (xStream)
    * Upgrade from Vue 7.5 to Vue 8: $295 (Infinite) and $495 (xStream)
    * Upgrade from Vue 7 to Vue 8: $295 (Infinite) and $495 (xStream)**

Therefore, once Vue 7.4 and 7.5 are released, and if you believe you will want to upgrade to Vue 8, please consider one of the two following options:

    * If you are satisfied with the new features introduced by the free Vue 7.4 Service Pack and don't need the features of Vue 7.5*, we recommend you wait for the release of Vue 8 (skipping Vue 7.5 will not increase your upgrade cost).
    * If you need the new features of Vue 7.5, we recommend you purchase a maintenance plan (your total cost of Vue 7 -> 7.5 -> 8 upgrade will be $395 instead of $590 for Infinite and $595 instead of $990 for xStream).

And about the confusion regarding the maintenance plan:

Your upgrade to Vue 8 guaranteed!

In order to help synchronize timing and activation issues surrounding the rollout of e-on’s new maintenance programs, we are pleased to announce a guaranteed commitment policy which allows all Vue 7 maintenance subscription users to receive the Vue 8 upgrade when it becomes available, irregardless of the effective start date and initial subscription period of their maintenance program.

This one-time policy is designed to ensure that users who have already purchased maintenance, or intend to purchase maintenance to receive the Vue 7.5 upgrade, will not be penalized by timing issues if the Vue 8 release should happen to fall outside a user’s initial subscription period, which in many cases, is tied to the activation date of Vue 7.

It is our intention to ensure a smooth transition to our maintenance programs which include free upgrades to .5 and full versions on an on-going basis, along with our enhanced support services.

So there you go, the upgrade will be 295$, IMO a lot cheaper than the upgrade from V6 to V7.

By the way, does anyone know if the "Buy a maintenance plan, get full version and .5 for free" applies also to the DVD case versions? I am not too keen on the offer if you are only eligible for a free downloadable upgrade.
