Subject: 3DConnexion SpaceNavigator

I'm using a 3DConnexion SpaceNavigator 3d mouse.  It is great for moving cameras around.  Does anyone know if Poser (or any other 3d application) supports the 3d mouse for object manipulation, specifically posing.  It seems to me to be the perfect posing control to directly manipulate limbs with a 3d mouse.

If it's supported, please let me know.  If it's not supported, let's lobby SM to add it in.  :)

It already does that.

In the 3dConnexion control panel, set your Space Navigator's side button to "button 1"

this will toggle between camera manipulating and object manipulating in Poser.

Got it!  Very cool, but Poser just crashed on me.  :)  Ok, it's back up and running.  That's cool, but it's going to take some getting used to.

Any other hidden functions that I should know about?

Attached Link: Applications Supported by 3dconnexion

There are quite a few other applications that the mouse will work with as well.

(I am assuming you are using a PC. The list of supported apps for Mac is rather short : (

What's the difference between the PE and the Standard edition?

surfdabbler ( ) posted Thu, 22 October 2009 at 8:35 AM · edited Thu, 22 October 2009 at 8:49 AM

I think it's price, support and licencing.  PE is for personal use only, no commercial users.  I bought the full version, as I will be using it for commercial use (and I'm honest).  I also saw a notice somewhere that they aren't selling the cheaper PE version anymore, but I don't know if that's true.  It still seems to be in their online store.

Got one myself (the PE version since this is a hobby from home). They are very good.

The Space Pilot Pro looks very nice indeed - bit expensive though...

I find the idea of a higher price and licensing agreement for a mouse to be pretty ludicrous actually. I certainly wouldn't pay the higher price.
