I'm thinking about upgrading and I wonder if anyone else has yet and how Poser runs on it?

 Everything works just fine on Windows 7 :)  I've been running the Release Candidate Windows 7 since before Poser 8 came out ;)

 Also running the Release Candidate, skipped Vista completely. In terms of efficiency, may be as awesome as Windows 2000 once was (the best Windows ever in my opinion). But been happily doing the Mac thing for a while. Seriously considering to use it in a dual boot environment.

I was considering it when I saw the Family Pack priced at 150$, converted thats about 162$ Australian Dollars.
Seemed a good price but Microshaft arent selling the Family pack here in Oz and all prices here have no relevence to the exchange rate, ie rippoff.

Only thing I ran up against that was weird was having to type the dashes in on the serial numbers, even though it said they automatically filled them in. I kept getting an "invalid serial number" message until I entered the dashes manually. On TWO computers, with two separate serial numbers, so it wasn't just a fluke.

I was using the Beta up till a couple of weeks ago & plan to upgrade when some spare cash comes my way, I used Vista for a while as well & would say the difference between them is like WinME & XP in performance.

Windows 7 rocks, I´m running the RC 64 bit,and yesterday my preordered copy arrived. I was one of the lucky people to grab it for about 55 Euros. It fastens up a lot of things and gave my old computer new life. Had no software problems so far.

Did you have to do a fresh install??

from XP you will have to fresh install, there's no Upgrade route. 

tho a fresh install is the better idea anyway.

Personally I'm setting our machines to dual boot XP / Win7 64, and then transfering the files over to Win7 once I've reinstalled my programs. I'll then retain XP as a backup OS.

My pre-ordered Win 7 Pro got shipped out at 6:15am this morning. I expect I'll see it next week some time.

I've also been beta testing the various beta and RC versions on my Eee PC netbook since January and it runs great. I'm still using Vista on this desktop computer but that'll change as of tomorrow as I received the Windows 7 Professional DVD, that I pre-ordered back in August, today.

I spent all evening installing it and all my programs last night.  Running 64-bit Pro here, coming off of over two years on Vista (32-bit for a year and 64-bit for a year and a half).  Runs like a charm.  Did a clean install.  Poser (6, 7, Pro) and Vue (7) both run great!  So does WoW. he he :)

Not sure I want to do a clean install and have to hunt for drivers myself. Besides this is going to probably be a one shot upgrade deal since I don't have original Vista disks with this PC and no way to get Vista back once I move forward unless I rush out and buy a new hard drive to Ghost my original onto. (It's a thought.)

When I did a clean install of Win7 I only had to find a single driver myself for my soundcard which is getting a bit long in the tooth, everything else just worked straight away with no problems.

Yeah, well beware of that. The MS drivers are just generic crap for the most part. For example, it may say that it loaded your Nvidia/ATI graphics driver and even list the correct model number, but it's little more than a replacement for the old standard, generic VGA driver and most definitely won't be current.
Motherboard drivers, audio and video drivers, and everything else should be installed from the manufacturer, where available.
