Subject: Rumours of my demise ... and new freestuff ;-)

Andi3d ( ) posted Wed, 28 October 2009 at 10:33 AM · edited Mon, 06 January 2025 at 5:33 PM

Rumours of my demise would have been exaggerated, but not by a whole lot. I've recently been diagnosed with primary progressive multiple sclerosis. Which kinda sucks. But, now I know what's going on, it's actually a whole lot easier than waiting to find out. The unknowns were ....hmm, yuck. But now I can work out how to move forward, live with it. Which takes a huge weight off, and since finding out, I've been pretty fired up and modelling like a crazy thing.

Couple of new freestuffs have emerged, you can find them under the Poser6+ section of Free Downloads at my site. I wont post any links as all the forum rules appear to have changed while I wasn't watching, so best not to inadvertently do wrong. ^^

Oh wow, MS. My most sincere best wishes...

Not that it will work for everyone, but my stepmother (who also has MS and has had it for at least 20 years) has avoided anything with yeast altogether. Swears by it, and she's still up and walking :o). There may be something to it...

It's good to see you back and that you at least know what you're dealing with :o).

Indeed Laurie...they have no idea what really causes it...some have said radon gas leaking into houses via the sewers [a local thought to be cause here in Manitoba] but allergies are often the underlying cause in strange illnesses.. ...

Only advice I can offer as someone who knows several people with MS including relatives, is not to give in to it. Keep your life as normal as possible for as long as possible and keep in good spirits.

Best of luck eh?

Welcome back. I had a girl friend who had MS. It makes you a fighter, so keep fighting.  Knowing what the opponent is, IS half the battle.  Keep the things rolling and keep moving forward.  I found doing my best at my art is what kept me from crumbling into a ball after my strokes.

Sometimes we just need big hurdles to jump because we need to fight and grow as a person.  Keep jumping 'em, Andy.

UC-Denver Researchers Seek Breakthrough In MS Therapy

Multiple Sclerosis is the most common disease to disable women, and the second leading disease to disable men in Colorado. However, researchers in the Denver area may be on the cusp of finding the best therapy to date.

More on the site.  Take care and happy holidays.

Andi,
I saw this article  on the Australian yahoo news a couple of days ago.

Stem cells 'reverse' MS in Canberra man
AAP December 15, 2009, 1:04 am

A Canberra man diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) just over 12 months ago appears to be on the road to recovery after being treated with stem cells.

Ben Leahy was in a wheelchair earlier this year and had suffered partial vision loss in one eye, but has since recovered to the point where he is walking.

The 20-year-old's remarkable recovery came after he underwent a procedure in which stem cells were harvested from his bone marrow, before chemicals were used to destroy all his existing immune cells.

Mr Leahy's stem cells were then re-injected.

ACT neurologist Dr Colin Andrews said the treatment appeared to have reversed the effects of MS which Mr Leahy was diagnosed with in August 2008.

For the rest of info see:
http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/mp/6585761/stem-cells-reverse-ms-in-canberra-man/

Don't  know what state stem cell research/treatment is in the US but certainly worth looking up info on it.

All my very best and season's greetings to you and yours.
