Subject: 2.5 released?

ren_mem ( ) posted Thu, 29 October 2009 at 12:42 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 10:13 PM

I thought 2.5 was going official at the conference. I don't see an official release anywhere though. Anybody know what's up?

Is it soup yet?

I guess not, you can fetch the current version from www.Graphicall.org, however. I have been playing around with it just to get familiar with some of the new work flow.

A slight delay...4 more weeks.

With the new UI for 2.5 I guess all the old tuts will be obsolete...

Well, I don't know...this may help new users out, when it's working:

Dynamic Documentation!.....

Not relate to link above.
I have been trying out some tutorials between the two versions...because of the new
ui...I am finding thing's go much smoother...less hunting around for tools/panels...I
even have the ui set up almost exactly the same way between the two ,basically.
In some ways, using the 2.5 as a guide to 2.49b.
I just started using blender a few months ago...but in 3d for for sometime now.

2.49b...my set up, startup scene...

Well, not exactly the same...but you get the idea?

4 more weeks, huh? I guess I can wait a bit longer. I actually haven't been blending in a while.

It is better to do one thing well, than to do many things and excel at nothing.

Yeah, I knew the builds were available. I also know it will be a bit crippled for awhile even after it comes out officially, but I definitely like the new UI changes. Another 4 wks...too bad.

Yeah, but it will really be something once it is released!
