Subject: Corrupt Save Files?

Anasta ( ) posted Fri, 30 October 2009 at 9:31 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 8:35 PM

*OK I have been nearly pulling my hair out about this annoying issue. I've learned that when working with Poser (I'm still currently using 7) that you need to save and save often. What I usually do is save whenever I change rooms or right before I render, then once I adjust my render settings and pretty much have everything set up like I want it, I save again, close Poser and reboot my PC to give it a fresh start.

Now, for some insane reason I do all this and when I try to reopen my save file, Poser just poofs on me and I can't figure out why or how to fix it. I'm at the point where I'm copying my Runtime folder and debating on a full uninstall/reinstall.

Any suggestions or related issues I'd greatly appreciate some input please.*

Side note on this.. It doesn't seem to do this with every save file, only a couple of my most recent ones and one or two of my older ones. I just ran a test through a folder of saves. I wondered if it was a content issue but one that won't open its just a figure with hair and no background or props while I have several that have props galore and dynamic and such that opens up fine.

are you saving with external binary morphs ? I know that was a problem.

*Uhh... I don't even know what that is LOL

The files have whatever character morphs came with the sets I downloaded.. Mostly freebies from here for Aiko and V4*

Poser 6 introduced the external binary morphs option. You will find it under the Edit menu, General Preferences > Misc tab. Try turning this option off. Many people seem to experience problems when this option is enabled.

The screen shot above comes from P6, but it probably looks similar in P7.

Excellent !  You may be able to recover those bad scenes by removing the external morph files (rename so poser cant find them ) , then inj morphs after the scene loads.  Doessnt always work but can sometimes revover the scene.
