Orbital 3pts- Super incredible Amazing sense of scale and detail from Bryce!

VanGogh 2pts- Reminds me of the Sponza Atrium. Very clever choice about the terrains, really awesome details.

Whiteside- 1pt- As per usual, very accomplished work technically.

Before I vote, I need to clarify what I wrote in my challenge post. I meant to say "I made the lander from scratch. I made this from a sketch drawn by Marc Gabbana."

Sometimes I'm thinking ahead of what I'm typing. And it just doesn't come out right. Plus there was no way to fix it once it was posted.

Now on to the vote.

3 points Dhama.   Sets a great mood for such a simple scene. Your technique was flawless.

2 points  Orbital.    Good composition.  Defiantly your strong point.

1 point    Dan Whiteside.  Your artistry never ceases to amaze me. You have a way of thinking outside of the box.

HM's to Zorzim, Rj001 and ThunderStone

13 Vangogh 3 points (would have been better wiothout the shiny MATs)

10 Adbc  2 points (Outstanding design, and love the colours)

3 Aerojett 1 point (Almost surreal cosmic scene)

HM Orbital (fine work, but nothing different from the usual Orbital render) You have the talent to go much further than cliched ScFi scenes.

All in all a little disappointed in the show here, I would have though this challenge would have had more interest being more personal to each artist... but there you go!

This is my last challenge effort now, I just don't have the time anymore.

zorzim ( ) posted Mon, 02 November 2009 at 4:12 PM

1st - dan whiteside (3 pts) - superb lighting and modeling with metaballs... the mecha arms are just convincing addon, I like this image very much

Special mentions to :

vcnt9663 - very effective modeling into bryce - love that starships !
thunderstone - I wonder what's hidden message into it... good render anyway
vangogh -  yes, we can do a greet deal w Bryce terrains... a lesson never to forget

Well I think your talent is more than what you've produced so far, and even though your scene was far more professional and polished than anyone else's, my choice was focused towards upcoming artists. And with that.... now i'll bugger off!

orbital ( ) posted Tue, 03 November 2009 at 1:45 AM

I could say the same in your case Terry, I feel you have produced better in the past.

Will all those bickering, please stop!!! To each, his or her or their own. Some people can expand on their own limits. Some have reached their creative limits and can go no further. Some have become so adept at using Bryce that their skills reeks of polished professionalism that one can only dare to dream to accomplish in the far distant future. Others have yet to learn to push past that limit and really create.  I had a tagline that I used to use. Still in use somewhere else but it goes like this: How close to infinity can you set your limitations?

I'm still learning Bryce. Still attempting to push past the creativity barriers... All of the masters of the software are gone, died, moved on, closed shop, etc... There's not a lot of sites that one can learn from these days. There used to be a lot of sites with bryce tuts; now they're just dead links with potential malwares injection points.  The ones still around, can't be bothered with new tuts because no one appreciate them or worse. Real life interferes and no one has the time to share anything any more.

So instead of bickering among ourselves and with ourselves, why not offer to share how we do the things that others admire about in our renders/images?

Maybe I am wrong or maybe I got the wrong impression about these postings.

After this posting, maybe theBryster can ban me from this forum.  At least I've had a good run.

I think it's more good-natured ribbing. Orb and Dhama have a zero history and tolerance for trouble-making in my experience.

Just a bit of banter, sometimes it's hard to express emotion within a forum so posts can be taken the wrong way. I feel any ill will to Dhama, and I hope he feels the same.
Regards sharing I try my best, and if anyone ever wants to ask my advice I will gladly give it. I've uploade 4 tutorials this year, and you can download my cloud city tutorial from daz for free at the moment.
Anyway back to the topic in hand.

Yes I downloaded it from DAZ and went thru it ... added a few of my own touches and it's in the gallery. Meant to say thanks for the tut... And will go thru the 4 tuts again. And yes, back to the topic in hand...

BTW I certainly hope you are missing a word or two in your statement as I hope dhama and you are NOT having ill feelings towards each other...

Thanks dhama for your appreciation !
I'm impressed with all the works I've seen and ask myself : how do they do it ?
I still have to learn much about Bryce, some of you are real professionals for me it's just a hobby but I really like it.
