Hello - Uncle Mugsey here, waz up kids.

This Halloween I had a blast, I watched T.V. (hey - I'm a slightly overweight middle aged couch potato - it's my job!).

ANYWHO (gosh don't you just hate it when people open a paragraph like that?) Me - my nephews, and my sisters watched the overnight GHOST ADVENTURERS deal that was on the Travel channel, split a pizza with everything on (there goes my sodium levels), and also I got to feltch some left over begger's food - not a bad night atall.

We also have the overnight GHOST HUNTERS on the TIVO DVR hootchymabob to, but I've got to watch that tonight sometime, or whenever the clan goes on a road trip and I get the giant flat screen all to myself. It was a pretty creepy show and VERY fun to watch. Toward the end of the show they brought in this dude with a box full of vandegraph generators that he said was a "ghost trap" - and things got a little cheezy at that point - but it was still fun.

They also caught what was allegedly a ghost lady screaming - but that could've been staged. Still was creepy though. They were at some kind of abandoned mental ward / asylum.

I had a pretty good halloween. How was yours?

Gareee ( ) posted Sun, 01 November 2009 at 5:48 PM

Well, we did our Ghostbuster thing this year again... but with movie accurate traps, and a roof rack with lights and sound! We converted our car into an Ecto! Response from everyone who sees it as we're driving around has been amazing!

Here I am with my gear.. and some photoshopping:

Here's a a video walk around of our car during the day:

http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid208.photobucket.com/albums/bb2/Gareee_photos/GhostBusters/ectoncornmaze016-1.flv

Yesterday was killer.. I completed my second trap, and then parked our ectomobile and took some pics at the local cemetary, with a amazing backdrop view (pics later). We then crusied downtown in our "ectomobile", playing the siren and the theme music. Kids were trick r treating at the stores, so there was a huge appreciative crowd.

Then as we had promised, we stopped by walmart, to show off to some of the employees there, and spread some seasonl cheer over there. The police restrict traffic in an area of town, and the streets there swarm with trick r treaters, but they let us cruise the streets to show off for the kids as well. It started raining, but people were still cheering us on, even though they were probably freezing by then.

We then drove over to the largest nearby city.. of course, we got cheers from other cars taking cell phone pics along the way.. LOL!

We hit the biggest mall there, and it took us more then an hour to work down to the food court. No Unimonster bobble heads yet though 8(.

We finished off the night at  set of clubs downtown, and won best group, and best overall costumes, to the tune of $400! Not the $1000 we won last year, but its like getting paid for doing something you love.

Now I have to clean up the disaster mess we made of the house the past few weeks making everything, and reapairing the "battle damage" we took at the club. Huge dense throngs of partially drunk people and proton packs do NOT mix together well!

Not sure how, but we managed to top last halloween this year!

I watched the Ghost Adventures Live special. That nut job with the tesla coil in the glass box was the highlight of the evening. I expected (and maybe hoped a little) that it would blow up at any second...lol. I also expected him to whip out guns and challenge one of the GA boys to a duel. Either that or his teeth would fall out. A very odd little man.

I don't apologize for the fact that I watch all the "ghost hunting" shows. It's something that has always interested me no end. Me and my oldest made a night of it (he's 26 with no gf at the moment or mom would have been watching all by her lonesome) ;o). As it was, it turned out to be mildly interesting (the GA crew assume a little too much in my book). I tend to be really skeptical about anything until it can't be proven to be natural. Doesn't keep me from enjoying the programs tho...lol. Some of the things these groups assume is downright hilarious! For instance (and to mention the Ghost Adventures crew again): they captured what they said was a woman sighing in one of their earliest shows. Now, I've been around cats all my life, and what they heard was definitely a cat. Just goes to show how hard they looked at that little bit of "evidence"...lol. Maybe they're just not cat people ;o).

(typo). Lol. I don't know what "Feltch" means, but then again - despite being in the U.S., I still have to press "1" to hear my options in English, lol.

And YES Laurie - My sister said that the guy with the "PARABOT" ruined the show for her - because it suddenly got way to stupid, lol.

It's not a holiday over here and I'm glad it isn't. I still wonder how a country that claims to be so religious as the US does, can even celebrate such a thing.

Don't tell anyone, but even the religious have been known to have a bit of fun from time to time.

It was pope Gregory III who started Halloween, so I don't guess the Catholic church get's all that worked up over it.

By the way, just what is it that you imagine all hallows' eve celebrates?

I celebrate the traditional fun I had as a kid on Halloween, and most people I know do, and we go over the top because someone has to keep our old traditional alive in these politically correct times. To hell with that!

We did the Ghostbuster stuff last year as a lark, and it was by FAR our best Halloween for both of us ever. The $1500 in contest award prizes was just icing on the cake last year, as was the total of $425 we won this year.

We did the car to be able to share the fun mobally, and the pics people took of it with cell phones, and all the compliments we got was well worth the work! Driving around seeing other people's yard decorations became a whole new treat for us!

We are even considering picking up an  old hearse now, and ecto izing it for next year as well!

We are also planning on being in all the christmas parades here as well.

haha!  I so agree!  Halloween has to be my most favourite "holiday" even over Christmas! It's a time when you can get dressed up and celebrate without any pressure of having to exchange gifts. It's just plain fun!!!

By the way! I'm coming to your house next year for Halloween!  I'll be Elvira and the celebrity host of your Ghost Buster sleuthing!!!  LOL

Sweet! We are always looking for more people in the area to go have fun with! We did dragoncon's parade this past year with over 50 other guys in ghostbuster gear, a little kid in scaled down gear, and even a Jeanine and Louis! CNN even featured us!

We were chosen as most popular parade theme, and also won the convention hall popularity contest as well.

Sorry but I didn't use the word I only let him know what the word he was using meant. I can't help it that it's gross beyond belief. Since when is linking to a word definition against the TOS though?  If you're going to delete links to definitions, you should probably go back to his post and edit out the word or correct his spelling. Otherwise the OP's post should still be flagged for language.

COOLNESS GAREEE - Looks like in the lotto game of life - you scratched a winning ticket! Most of my family thinks that I should grow up. Here's a small inventory list of some of the things I have in my personal space (and that are a pain to move when your relocating):

#1, plastic halloween skull wearing sun glasses, and a set of blue bunny ears.
#2, A stuffed toy fruit bat hanging from my ceiling.
#3, A Rubiks Cube.
#4, A Rubber Brain.
#5, Several model planes, tanks, and the engine, flat car, and caboose of a train set that I had in the 1980s.
#6, Homemade Steampunk Goggles (from last Halloween).
#7, A rubber animatronic frog that sings "Can Anybody Find Me Somebody To Love". (See Image Above).
#8, Several Piggy Banks.
#9, About 50 assorted Happy Meal toys.
#10, A snow globe.
#11, An old type abacas.
#12, Mickey Mouse ears.
#13, A novelty VooDoo doll kit.
#14, A stack of comic books.
#15, An assortment of DVDs, (comedies and zombie movies).
#16, Two unassembled electric guitars (I've been meaning to finish those! Lol).
#17, Probably the last Dokken Album known to mankind.
#18, Several "Bobbin Head" critters.
#19, A small ship in a bottle.
#20, A Pirate hat, an eye patch, and an earring.
#21, A stuffed toy blue elephant.
#22, A "NO TRESSPASSING, HUNTING, OR FISHING" sign.
