Subject: Missing .prv file

danway ( ) posted Wed, 18 November 2009 at 7:36 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 5:02 PM

I seem to be missing a .prv file from one of my materials folder and Vue won't show the contents in the visual browser. Is there anything I can do to regenerate or replace the missing file? Simply updating the contents list doesn't seem to help.

Sometimes the prv files get corrupted.  Exit Vue and deleate the prv.  Open Vue and see if the library works (Vue will make a new prv file).  If not, delete the collection using the little trash can icon and than add it back in using the New Collection icon...

I tried doing that Peggy but Vue won't generate a new prv file. I deleted the collection and added them back several times with no success. If I add the folder manually it won't display the contents in the visual browser but if I click the browse file button I can navigate and view them. Strange! I'm using Vue8 complete.

Strange...  Is this a collection of models you created / converted or store items?  Not sure why they would not display.  Try loading one of the models, save as vob and replace the original file - if it then displays in Vue 8, I'd send in a support ticket - that may be a bug.

These are material files, all .mat. I can browse manually, choose a file and open it. I can also save it but they won't display, even the newly saved files won't display.

Even stranger.  I'd send a dew of the mats then to e-on and see if they can duplicate the problem.

I had to trick  Vue into getting the items to show up in the visual browser. I had to remove the files, delete the original folder and created a new one with a different name. Then put the items back and it worked! It never did generate a new prv file. Still doesn't have one but the items are now being shown. The folder was named Brick/Stone it wouldn't show up, renamed Brick and Stone and it works.

Wonder if the / in the folder name made a difference?  If I have time i'll try one out and see if it works or not.

I forgot how quirky Vue could be, thanks for your help Peggy!
