THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce 6.1 and Apple Mac Snow Leopard

 Hi all,

My first post in a long time as I have not been doing 3D for ages due to other commitments.  I have just purchased an iMac 27inch computer and I have used migration assistant to move my old apps (including Bryce) to the new computer.  Of all the apps, only Bryce 6.1 and DAZStudio did not work properly.

I cannot get my Bryce 6.1 to run using my new iMac 27inch with Snow Leopard.  When I double click the app it starts to launch and then quits immediately. Are there issues with Bryce 6.1 and the Snow Leopard OS that anyone knows of?

I use Bryce Version 6.1.13.1 (Mar 2007) which runs fine in 10.5.8 on my laptop, but I am going to sell this and will only have the iMac to use from now on.

I used migration assistant to move the app to the new computer.  Unfortunately I cannot find my downloaded installer, so I cannot do a clean reinstall. I have request to download again from DAZ.

I just dowloaded the latest DAZStudio 3.0.1.144 and it too behaves erratically. It loads up ok and lets me select a 3D model, pose it, but when I attempt to render the screen becomes corrupted and the render does not happen. Anyone else managed to get DAZStudio to work with Snow Leopard, or are these Bryce and DAZ Studio probs well known about and universal...?

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Regards,

Steve

Since no-one bothered to reply here, I went to other forums, got a few suggestions and got Bryce 6.1.13.1 to work on my iMac 27inch using OS 10.6.2.  However, DAZStudio 3 does not work properly and DAZ are seeking to sort it out. I shall use Poser in the mean time.

Sorry you didn't get any reply right away.

I have a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard. I too had the same problem when I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Well my problems started when I went to Leopard.

I don't think my problem is the same as yours, but you never know. I found out that my Open GL is not upgradeable in Snow Leopard or Leopard for that matter. It has to do with my graphics card. It was made by Intel and is not compatible with withe the newer OS's. And to make matters worse, DAZ never took the time to work all the bugs in their software at the time of the Leopard release (Bryce 6.1).

I am now running Bryce 6.0 because it's more stable then 6.1 and I can't run the newest version of DAZ3D for the same reason. I can build and render.  But  (and it's a big but.)  it takes forever to render. I was told there is no fix. That is unless DAZ update Bryce and DAZ3D. Which they have in DAZ Studio and not for Bryce. I understand Bryce in the works.

For me their are no fixes that will not work ( Graphics Card)  unless I buy a new computer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, fortunately it seems to be working now for me.
