Hi all,
I've switched to Mac and reinstalled my Poser 7 Mac (10.5.8). Now I cannot load my previous content Which I have purchased from a number of different sources. Must I load the content manually now?

Pn the PC I just opened the installers and they found their way to the right place.

Hi welcome to OSX
if you have Zip files unzip them and use THIS utility
to auto convert the  PNG icons and merge the files into your runtime.

If they  are windows .EXE files from the WinXP Era  You Can install them Under the 'X11" Emulation environment on OSX although your results may vary.

Cheers

Hi, but do you really want one huge ginormous runtime?  How will you ever find your mats to match each clothing etc.
It makes much more sense just to put each runtime into a folder such as V4_CowgirlClothiing and link that as an external runtime.  Then you load the clothes, go to the pose folder and you will only find the poses for that clothing and not a whole heap of other stuff.
but why didn't you just copy your old runtime from your pc to your mac and use your old runtime.  they work just the same and you don't need to reinstall all your stuff as it will be just the way you had it on your PC.

for adding new stuff a merge function is useful even if it is just to put the new mats that someone else has made for the cowgirl outfit into that runtime.
I use ditto by kaveman for merging.

Thanks, E for the reply. I tried that and when I opened a new project I was forced to hunt through my old runtime even though I had copied the content to the same folder on my Mac. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

well you still have to load any external runtimes from within poser as you haven't got your old xml file with the libraries on it anymore.  But if it was just your main runtime I'm not sure why it isn't working unless your PZ3s have some absolute paths in them.

you didn't just plop your old runtime into your poser folder and completely replace the mac poser folder that was there did you by any chance?
I always merge my newly installed software folder into my old runtime then plop the whole combined runtime back into the poser folder.

I'm off to bed now.  But I'm sure this is fixable without you having to reload all your purchased content all over again.  however if you do have to do it, I strongly suggest keeping everything in multiple external runtimes so you can find all your poses that match your Cr2s, and camera and light settings for particular scenes so very much easier.

I like one runtime, because it is easier to find stuff :) Just pointing out people have different ways of thinking.

estherau ( ) posted Mon, 23 November 2009 at 8:58 PM

how could it be easier?  With external, you go to the runtime and when you click on pose you only see the poses for that runtime, and when you click on lights you only see the relevant lights, and when you click on cameras you only see the relevant cameras etc.  I mean if everything is in one runtime, you have to scroll down a whole big list each time you go to pose folder or camera folder etc then you have to get into the appropriate subfolder etc.
It also means when you load in new content you have to sort it in a way that makes sense to you which is a lot of extra work if you have bought a lot of content.  YOu should try external runtimes.
