Subject: If I leave P8 idle in the background it eventually kills my internet connection

Photopium ( ) posted Thu, 26 November 2009 at 10:16 PM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 8:55 PM

The only way to recover is to shut Poser down and restart explorer.

What gives?  SP2 or whatever the current one is.  XP sp3

Used to happen to Me (twice)

Since SR2 no problem.

I just installed P8 yesterday..with SR2
i have to say it slows my entrie system down with it loaded and sitting idle. It is extremely more intrusive than P6 for sure. must use a lot more memory resources, and I dont have many as it is..1.5gig plus virtual.

Weird. I've been watching mine for some time now, and when it's just sitting idle it's using between 0 and 2% of the CPU.

GoogleChrome OTOH (my browser which I otherwise LOVE!) is a CPU hog. Right now, with 9 tabs open, it's munching almost 40% of the CPU...

Neither of them is using insane amounts of RAM though. Just CPU power.

Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Yep I've thought I noticed this, but it's not consistent, and wasn't sure it was poser causing it.

scarlock ( ) posted Mon, 30 November 2009 at 11:17 PM

I've had this happen twice now - left poser up and running since Saturday (doing the occasional render in between other stuff around the house) and when I fired up Firefox this evening it couldn't resolve anything.  Shutdown Poser and all was good.

If I can find a pattern, I'll report it to SM.

Sometimes I'll surf the web while waiting for a scene to render, and I've noticed that the internet speed slows down. Not sure if that has to do with Poser 8 using too many resources, or something linked to the IE run library.

I've actually had this happen with Poser 7, Windows Vista, and Mozilla, but I thought it was a peculiarity of my system.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
