Wow...never been a 'winner' before...mostly a whiner, heh heh heh...thanks for all the votes and I'm as surprised as most of you....cripes, now I gotta think up a worthy theme for the next one
Congrats to all who entered, would have been nice to see more entries but hey, it was a hard one to picturize [izzat a werd?] I thought Orbitals was actually the best Bryce entry but all were very revealing of their authors which is nice.. ...

It's been suggested - and I agree - that the deadline for the next challenge should be the 31st of January 2010. What say you Guys?

Any ideas for the next challenge? I probably won't get to do one this time round either, I haven't got Bryce loaded onto my PC and I've got to send it out to see if it can be spiffed up. It's running poorly. Considering its a newly built beast, that distresses me.

bobbystahr ( ) posted Tue, 08 December 2009 at 6:03 PM

Sorry all for my length of time getting this together but I'm at a blank here. Mostly I'm pre occupied getting my head and body prepared for the stress ofgoing into the hospital to have all my teeth removed on Dec 17. I'd like to pass this back to the 2nd place Skiwillgee if that's O K with all you good people.. ...

O K...with a bit of help I'd like to submit this challenge:

Here is a challenge.  “’Wish you were here’, scenes of awe and wonder”

Have you ever sent or received a post card from a vacation with a note attached, “Wish you were here”?  Well I propose you create a scene worthy the phrase “Wish you were here”.  It can be landscape, science fiction, abstract, surreal, humorous, etc..

Examples of possible entries:

A lakeside cabin surrounded by snow covered mountains
A cliff lined seascape
The view from a spaceship porthole of the wonders of the universeA completely alien or futuristic landscape
People on a walkway viewing the inside of one those reflective abstract arts
The view as seen by the rearmost goose flying in a V formation

What I would like for entries to aim for is: creative points of view, scale, and imagination that inspire awe and wonder.  Also, the judging be based on how much the scene makes a member think, “yes I would like to be there also (or even chuckle at being glad you are not there.)”

Imports allowed, post work allowed but remember this is a Bryce challenge and the judging will be based on how well the artist conveyed the subject no matter detail of a model or import.

I hope this subject will encourage everyone having various genre preferences and no to little modeling skills to give it a go.  There are boundless possibilities within Bryce alone.

Thanx for the input willi

I agree, it sounds like a fantastic challenge. Oh I so wish I could pull myself back to Bryce. Maybe with the extended deadline I might get the chance. Maybe with a snow day or two. Right now those midwest snowstorms are affecting our weather here in upstate NY. I'm getting ready to go to work late. But I can still hear the sleet and wind bashing against my windows. I wanted to wait till the roads had been better traveled and maybe the temp warmed enough to melt the ice. This weather makes me think of a "Wish YOU were here instead of me" scene LOL.

Hey Bobby, uh -29 Celsius, uh isn't that ridiculously cold? Like 0 is 32F which is already too cold for my liking.
I do think snow scenes are beautiful, but I prefer to see them on a postcard and not outside my house, lol.

skiwillgee ( ) posted Wed, 09 December 2009 at 9:20 PM

Angie,  why the heck did you pick upstate NY to reside if cold ain't your thing?

The readers digest condensed version is even a bit long. But it boils down to I was young, naive and uninformed. The economy sucked. And here I am trapped by trappings and hoping to be able to get out someday.
