Blender F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 6:26 am)
Here it is:
There's one issue that I'm aware of at this time, but can't work on it right now. Possibly, multi - group or object - objects are not re-assembled correctly. One test item was an apparently 2 part cabinet.
I'll look into this when I have time.
I've tested it with several items and it works very well.
The home page lists some of the current limitations.
Enjoy.

Wow, what an incredible concept. "Nice guy" isn't enough to describe you... "incredibly generous, brilliant innovator" merely approximates. Thank you so much... this makes the process of going back and forth between Poser and Blender so much more seamless.
Brilliant stuff, Reddog!

I copied it over to the normal download section.

I had time to make some improvements to it today. Latest version - 0.19
I've come to the conclusion that there are just some really bad props floating around. Why is it necessary for one chair to have like 200 different materials????
The script still truncates object materials down to the first 16. I really don't want to re-write it to divide things up by materials at this time. Maybe later.

- Took care of multiple objects in one .pp2 file.
Still some issues with this part. I'm working on correcting it.

I'm putting together another Blender Python script that I think a lot of people will appreciate. I've decided to share with everyone free of charge.
I thought, wouldn't it be nice if I could browser my Daz Studio content directory and just preview and load props just as easily as if I were using Daz Studio or Poser? Yeah, that would be pretty handy. I mean, you could do all this now by hand, but what a tedious thing. Load the .obj, track down and load the textures, make the materials.... ugh, what a hassle...
Let's make it so much easier than that.
I wanted, one click - and everything is loaded, created and applied.
Poser Prop Importer
Set your content directory and it lists all of your prop sub folders and props.
It's laid out to work in a side column window of Blender.
Multiple pages for extra long directory listings.
Any prop with a preview image gets an extra button to display the preview in a new window.
The script reads the .pp2 file, locates the .obj file. It also works with 'custom geometry' that's located within the .pp2.
It creates all of the materials. Locates and loads any texture slotted as 'Texture Map, Transparency Map or Bump Map'. (Might expand this further for other map types later on).
Custom OBJ reader creates the objects and applies all the materials and textures.
Any texture labled as an Alpha map will automatically have the Alpha slider turned all the way down as well as having the Ztransp button clicked on as well.
Here's an example page of Props, .pp2s. Each one of these has a thumbnail available to view.
Below is a sample view of the preview window.
I hope to have this posted to my site for download by the end of the day today.
I'm also planning a dedicated page with the minimal instructions needed as well as any current limitations.
I want encourage everyone to try it out and send me any feed back so I can make improvements where/if need be.
I can only test it so much on my own with just one operating system. I'm using WindowsXP.
I'll reply here when it's ready to download.
