It's snowing AGAIN in the same week! And it's only December 8th. It's unusual around these parts to get much measurable snow (if any) before Christmas.

The depths of my despair is immeasurable. I'm contemplating moving to the equator.

I am in Wisconsin and we are expecting 6 to 14" of snow overnight and wednesday.

Global warming aside, I ain't liking it...lol.

I'm allergic to snow. Especially when I get behind the wheel.

Meanwhile, in the Arctic, the temperature has been 10-15 degrees celsius warmer than average for much of this winter and it's only this last week the temperatures have dropped to their December normal around here.

Ya know, I WASN'T making an argument for or against global warming. So let's not go there...

I was just venting and maybe a little morbidly curious if anyone else was getting early snow ;o). I know a lot of folks hate snow, though I doubt quite as much as I do...lol.

Don't ruin my thread or I'll beat you with a wet noodle! Or at the very least get you with a snowball ;o).

Snow ?
We are lucky if we see any in the south east UK.
I think last year ( February ) was the first time we had enough to call a snowfall in years.

Greebo ( ) posted Wed, 09 December 2009 at 6:46 AM

Agree with FairyJ. We get it so rarely down here now :( Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't like it all through the winter, but I would like more than we currently get.

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 09 December 2009 at 6:50 AM

Got 10" and I'm with you Laurie, I hate snow. Next morning was all iced up. One of the worst things, other than driving in it, is having to break the ice on all the water for the animals. You have to grab the ice out of the water when you break it or it will ice up again faster. Winter wonderland? Bah! Humbug!

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 09 December 2009 at 6:51 AM

Oh forgot to say, when we moved here I was told it was too low in elevation to snow here. Snowed the night we moved in and has snowed every winter since...lol

geoegress ( ) posted Wed, 09 December 2009 at 7:39 AM · edited Wed, 09 December 2009 at 7:44 AM

I hate snow too.

This is a late winter for us this year. Later winters and earily springs sounds good :) But it allways seems to make up the differance harder in between.

I'm in Michigan. They're calling for 12 to 18 inchs by tomorrow afternoon right on top of me. Some places north of us right now got 8 to 10 inchs over night.
Al Roker said some places here will get up to 4 feet by saturday.

Oh- and we are in a Blizzard warning starting at 1 PM. Thats in about 5 hours from now.

I really really hope the power stays on.

Come join us in Winnipeg...we got your weather Laurie, heh heh heh...well maybe not the temp. -29C at wake up this A M, but I can still see the grass thru the hint of show we've had...and it ain't Global Warming it's climate change...triggered I have no doubt, to an earlier cycle than is normal, by man's interferance but it's totally shifting what weather happens where, it's been happening as long as the planet's been here...see the ice ages which was quite a bit before man started being able to affect the climate. And it ain't gonna stop till the change is complete. Looking like we may wind up with  desert up here in the Canadian prairies IMHO.. ...

skuts ( ) posted Wed, 09 December 2009 at 10:36 AM

Let them curse.  We had a little snow last weekend, just enough to make things slippery.  Some nitwit in his little "batmobile" (black firebird? camaro?) thought he was above the laws of physics and started careening and pinwheeling all over the road, taking out mailboxes and hedgerows along the way. The look on the drivers face as he went spinning past me toward his doom was priceless.
The sap ended up embedded in a shrubbery, no injuries to life or limb except for a possibly deflated ego.

Low snowfalls and extremely cold temps here in California too.  I'm surprised no one was killed on this highway the last few days.    I'm currently trying to warm up enough to go out and un-bury my car.

The first day of winter is two weeks away and we are having wind-chills in the single digits here in the show-me state with winds blowing 30mph with 40mph gusts. Kansas City got some good snow but we had flurries here. 2-3" is alright by me it was the 6-8" once or twice a week when I lived in Northern New England I got tired of.

Correct climate change just as the earth has done for millions of years. I can't figure out why people can't understand that the polar ice caps have melted before due to climate change.
The scientific world knows this I just saw a program on NatGeo about this and it was all
scientists proving the data that this event has happened before and the effects it has on ancient coastal communities.

What will be blamed when the magnetic field of the earth shifts again. Scientists say this has happened before in the earth's history and will happen again in time. I guess cell phones and microwave ovens will be the culprit LOL!

We got the snow here yesterday and today. Still getting some I think, it's hard to tell the wind has picked up and it could be just blowing. That's the part I hate around here. I don't mind the snow once it has fallen. it's the blowing that I hate. You shovel, and it blows back. They plow and it blows back. Then they plow again and block your drive and you have to shovel again, but you might as well wait for the wind to die down, cause it's just blow back again.

more like they'll be the victims as with reversed polarity I can't see anything elctro-magnetic working...including the computers we've all seemingly become so dependant on. Truely glad I can still draw and I play acoustic guitar if 2012 works out the way I suspect it will.. ...

Franky, I'll never forget 90/91 (I think it was). Snowed every Wednesday and never got warm enough to melt from the snow the week before. Harrisburg was an absolute mess that year...they didn't bother to even plow the side streets after while and you had ice-covered ruts more than a foot deep to drive in. Ugh. And then there were the -20F temps too....

The day my car died ;o). I was chipping ice off my grandmother's driveway at the end of April...

Well, when you have an angry army trying to kill you and tons of refugees in tow that you have to protect, you find a way to cope.

For instance, I think that some of the refugees burnt down their houses before they left to give everyone warmth.  In order to make their guns work, soldiers peed on their weapons... but that only lasted so long.  Casualties got to be so bad for what they were able to move that the marines had to leave their dead behind, which is something the marines never do.

WARK!

Here in the Detroit area, northern burb, just got a little, changed to rain, wind kicked up something fierce, and just holding my breath the power stays on.  Last winter we ended up finding a hotel with generators for three days.  Thankfully we could afford it then.
