OK! Bobby has thrown down the fancy glove thingy:

"Here is a challenge.  **“’Wish you were here’, scenes of awe and wonder” **

Have you ever sent or received a post card from a vacation with a note attached, “Wish you were here”?  Well I propose you create a scene worthy the phrase “Wish you were here”.  It can be landscape, science fiction, abstract, surreal, humorous, etc..

Examples of possible entries:

A lakeside cabin surrounded by snow covered mountains
A cliff lined seascape
The view from a spaceship porthole of the wonders of the universeA completely alien or futuristic landscape
People on a walkway viewing the inside of one those reflective abstract arts
The view as seen by the rearmost goose flying in a V formation

What I would like entries to aim for is: creative points of view, scale, and imagination that **inspire awe and wonder.
**
Also, the judging be based on how much the scene makes a member think, “yes I would like to be there also (or even chuckle at being glad you are not there.)”

Imports allowed, post work allowed but remember this is a Bryce challenge and the judging will be based on how well the artist conveyed the subject no matter detail of a model or import.

I hope this subject will encourage everyone having various genre preferences and no to little modeling skills to give it a go.  There are boundless possibilities within Bryce alone."

**Good luck. The Entry pages will be up shortly.

****The Deadline will be 12 MIDNIGHT ROSITY TIME January 31st 2010

Contestants are permitted only one (1) entry.**

**WARNING!!!!!  Anyone posting finished renders in the galleries before the end of voting will be disqualified from this challenge.
WIPS are fine as long as they are only posted in this thread.
**

Been busy, but I think I'll give this one a go during my Christmas break that starts next week =D
I've got just the idea too...

Ok, here's what I have so far, sort of a "wish I were there" thing. The view is zoomed in more than I wanted it to be on the station itself since the camera accidentally reset before I had set it on one of those place making tabs in Bryce. Anywho it's loosely based of an MMORPG I've been playing called Star Sonata (check it out, it's pretty cool.) I might add a big viewport in the foreground with a couple of people looking out. I dunno yet.

At the moment the ships don't have bump mapped textures.

too bad it's not in the photography forums. i had a couple of shots of heidi klum dressed in chocolate that would have fit the 'wish you were here' bill just fine :P

The deadline was last night, so voting should have started but I just can't find a sticky for that. Maybe I'm just blind and anyone can tell me where to vote?

Don't panic!
The trouble is to do with time zones. Here on Mars when the Rendo clock says midnight it's around 6am here. I'm not getting my butt out of bed at 6am to start the voting. The sticky will be up shortly.
