Can you get a snow material that looks more realistic than this, with vue 7 Xstream? If so how?

Thanks,
Steve

Don't forget you can create more than one layer of snow, having about three layers with different bump settings and with slight colour variations will producte better results.

Here is one idea.  http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/media/folder_159/display_1584080.jpg

I basically used several layers to achieve the different textures, with different the different bump settings.  (Just as Bruno021 suggests).   The post work was soley for the thrown snow by the plow.  Although this was done in Vue6, it works in 7 also.

I think you need to play with the grainy fractal, is is very good at mimicking this kind of surfaces.

spedler, re: Powder snow winning material

A thousands thanks for the snow! Here is my try with your material + a DOSCH radient HDRI photo to light the scene.

Rendertime 14 seconds with radiosity and all!  :)

You never cease to be amazed..

(And think of all the possebilities with snow mat +hypertexture! )

Spedler, thanks for the link to that file. I am going to give it a try to help improve my snow scenes. Happy Holidays ;-)
