Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 01 9:10 pm)
I'd be interested to hear what you have to say, PhilC... I was thinking of using this incredible product for non-V4 figures but haven't quite gotten to that point in time when I've GOT the free time... but with the holidays here... :-)

Hmm,
Failed again. PhilC, I sent you an e-mail. RobynsVeil, I use OBJ2CR2 with other characters and have had great success. I also use PhilC's and Kamilche's Wardrobe Wizard, and enjoy it. Do read the tutorials on Phil's website, and I think there may be a few here as well. Have fun during the Holidays.- Starkdog
Can you please tell me a little more about how you created the sweater.
In the group line there are two tab spaces whereas the normal is to just have one single space.
You appear to have four times the number of texture vertices than needed. I did a simple remapping in UVMapper and that brought the number down to an amount similar to the number of vertices in the model which is what I would expect. (Planar Z split front and back).
What application did you use to create and UV map the model?
I can create conforming clothing using my revised version of your model, although there are still some aspects that I would like to check pending your reply.
Many thanks,
Phil
Thank you for taking the time to post your discoveries on here, Phil... (lurking and learning, hoping Starkdog doesn't mind)

Well shoot!!! I looked at the UV map, and I had some overlap. I brought the sweater into Ultimate Unwrap 3D, and ran a LSCM pass, which removed the few tangles. I then saved the mesh, and retried OBJ2CR2 in Poser8, and Poser crashed within seconds of launching the Python Script. I'm getting really frusterated with Poser 8 not cooperating well. I'm also kinda ticked that Hexagon has such a crappy UV mapping scheme. I've never been able to get a clean UV map out of Hexagon. I do have Modo 202, but the learning curve is kind of steep for me. Hexagon just seemed so natural to me. I wonder if Phil has found the bug(s)?- Starkdog
Quote - I modeled and UV mapped the sweater for Alyson in Hexagon 2.5
Make sure you tick "Merge equal uvs" when exporting from Hexagon.
I suspect the "tabs in group names" that PhilC mentioned are because you have a hierarchy of objects, i.e. one or more levels of grouping showing in the Hex scene tree.
There are two strategies to cope with this, one is to open the OBJ file and replace all tabs with spaces (simple and probabl enough to stop Poser throwing a wobbly); the other is to save in Hex format, then flatten the hierarchy and export as OBJ, then reload the Hex file.
In either case avoid any spaces in any names used inside hex as they are treated as name seperators by OBJ file readers (which is why Hex is cheating by using tabs so that it can reconstruct the hierarchy, but which would appear to choking Poser's internals).

No you just need to make a very minor adjustment to the joint parameters.
Click the OBJ2CR2 Help button
A web page stored on your computer will open. Under the top images and introductory paragraph are links to further pages on the following topics:
Click on the joint parameters link to go see an on screen video tutorial detailing the information that you need. You will not need to be connected to the Internet, the file is already on your computer.
The on line page is http://www.philc.net/OBJ2CR2_page1.php click the button at the top labeled "Video 2".
For this particular instance you'll need to:- - Select the clothing right shoulder.
Front-Back joint similar.
Hope this helps.
And glad you got your model sorted out :)

I made a sweater for Alyson, and UV mapped it. I load Alyson in P8, import the sweater OBJ, load the Alyson pants prop, and run OBJ2CR2. Shortly after running the calculations, Poser8 crashes. I am running Poser 8.0.2.10738. What is going on here? Just as an aside, I loaded a UV mapped obj for V4, and OBJ2CR2 worked like a champ. Is there something wrong with Alyson or Poser 8? Thanks, -Starkdog
