Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 1:20 pm)
When I did that for Poser 7, I had to re-enter my Poser 6 serial number. I didn't have it setup for Compatibility with XP either so I did as you suggested to "Run as administrator" and also selected compatibility mode for XP and it worked. So I'm ot sure if it it needed both or just the administrator setting.
The only thing with setting compatibility mode for XP is that you get that annoying pop up window, but a small price for getting things to work. I didn't try it in Poser 8 yet. I'm only keeping Poser 7 on my computer since I don't know if Poser 8 files will work with Vue 7.

There has been tremendous coverage about the conflict with Poser and Vista/Windows 7 and it all boils down to the installation to Program Files folder and administrative authorization. If your UAC is properly configured, you have no problems. Otherwise, install Poser to your root drive and bypass the headache.

Recently I've noticed that both Poser 7 & 8 seem to have problems when saving to the Library when it comes to replacing an existing file. This seems to happen mostly with Figures and not props. I will get the same error message in both versions. I never had this problem prior to some Windows 7 updates, but now have to manually delete the file in Windows Explorer then save it again.
Anyone else have this problem with either version?
This is what the error message says: "Warning: cannot open I:Runtimes...filename.crz"
It is referring to one of my external runtimes and the file is in the sixth subfolder beneath Runtimes on the "I" Drive. I didn't know if folder depth had anything to do with it, but it was never a problem before. After delete the files it was to replace, it saves fine to the librrary.
