Subject: Sims 2 to Poser?

Eagle_hawke ( ) posted Tue, 22 December 2009 at 11:07 PM · edited Wed, 08 January 2025 at 7:36 AM

I know there are programs which will convert 3d objects into Sims 2 objects but is there a program which will make a sims 2 Object or Lot into a format Poser 8 can read? I have a few houses and lots I'd like to use in poser if it is possible.

Personally, I have only heard the way you have. I know that most people will not take from poser to the sims. I did a search and was not able to find anything. I hope that someone knows some way for you. :)

Most people don't use poser models in the sims because poser has a much higher quality to the models it uses and creates. So therefore it chews up way too much memory to use.

I've been searching for days now and I've seen nothing about it. Kinda stupid you would think with all the games you can convert to poser recognizable files... Halflife, Bridge Commander, Quake, you would have thought someone would have worked out something for the sims by now.

You might want to consider asking around one of the Sims Mod Communities.  They would have an idea if anyone did.  They might at least be able to get something into an obj file for you.

If not you might have to get wings3d or blender or something and remake your houses manually.

Milkshape (http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/) says that it supports The Sims SKN and The Sims 2 UniMesh - whatever those are and the new beta is supposed to support Sims3.

OTOH, this article seems to suggest that something called SimsPE may be needed in addition to or instead of milkshape to get an .obj file. Just what I found with Google so it may or may not be of any help/relevance to what you're trying to do :-)

I'll have to look into that, last I knew Milkshape converted Sims files to Sims2 and objects to Sims2 formats, but not the other way around. But I'll check out the site and see if they've fixed that.

I'm also not familar with SIMSPE so I'll check into that too. Thanks for the tip.

I have Milkshape 1.8.4, and it includes "Sims2 UniMesh ObjX Data Split Import V4.9" among the formats in its "import" list.  Not sure whether that means it will do what you want, though....

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Sim City 4 can share homes with Sims 2.  Maybe there are Sim City 4 tools for objects?
