32 and 64 bit, right, try and explain this, it comes form binary mathematics. and reffers to how "wide" or "Big" the amount of data the software can access at one time (sort of). Now, sicne i'ts biinary you have a sort of logarithmic progression.
it also limits how much RAM can be used.
The old Spectrum and CommodoreC64 were 8 bit computers, the Amiga was a 16 bit ocmputer and pentiums 32 bit. You can see the progression in power. 32 bit computers can only use a max of 2 gigs of RAM (or 3,5 with a trick)
When you get to a 64 bit computer, it can use...17 billion giigabytes!! but no motherboard in a PC can use more than 32 gigs at moment and most can only use 4 or 8.

this icnrease has profoudn effects, Vue on a 64 bti system I got built to my specs (quad core CPU, 8 gig RAM, vista 64 bit, now windows7 64 bit), completely blows the a** out of my 4 GHz Pentium 4 with WIndos XP 32 bit. Renders about 10 times faster and I cna throw vaslty more things into a scene before it starts to use up a lot of memory
if you look at my gallery you'll see how I can use many Poser and other models in one scene at the same time.
In WIndows 7, to see if it's 32 or 64 bit that's installed, go to START --> CONTROL PANEL __>SYSTEM AND SECURITY -->VIEW AMOUNT OF RAM AND PROCESSOR SPEED
the system type tells you 32 or 64 bit

ok i couldnt find the info like you showed
all i could find is that i have 0.99Gb of ram...
so at least i know i need more eh..lol
its a new Hewlet Packard atm...im thinking of changing back to my other computer with modifications made...
that one is a Dell...
i tried for over half an hour to find like you show in your screenshot...omg..have major headache now..lol

I would suggest at least 12GB RAM if you intend to work with anything heavy Vue or other 3D applications. C4D I know is a beast and REALLY shines with memory just like most 64bit software.
Personally, I use a Mac Pro with dedicated duel-boot drives, one for Snow Leopard and the other for Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Right now I only have 10GB but will soon be getting a new 2010 Mac Pro when available with 24GB RAM and SSD drives. I plan to relegate my 2008 Mac Pro as a dedicated Render Node and make it a part of my render farm for my 3D software that allows multi-computer rendering.
In short, get the most you can afford if you plan on any detailed work.

6 or 8 gig is more than enough for most folk!!! 12 ig is also expensive considering the type of motherboard ye need for that, if you wanna go full bore, sure, 12 gig, but many peeps won't need that to start with

Hi guys
i was doing a render...
and got a message that i was outa memory and that Vue 8 was gonna crash
i wanted to know how much ram/memory do you need so that you can render ecosystems etc
without running outa memory please...?
and any sugetions on graphics card please...
