Subject: Can someone help me with lights on MEDBAY

JLSstudio ( ) posted Tue, 19 January 2010 at 2:23 AM · edited Fri, 20 December 2024 at 7:54 PM

I've recently purchased Moebius 87 and Stonemasons "MEDBAY" its supposed to have lights parented to teh ring scanner and overhead slabs, but when in poser I see no options to animate these no property or parameter or Mat.  Can someone tell me how to use this as parented lights would be very nice thank you.

There is a light set in the LIGHTS library that adds about 6 lights. 3 simply light up the medbay figure from above , the others are the overhead slab 1 and the ring scanner , 2. The lights can be moved or parameters altered through the normal parameter panel for lights.  I dont see any mats specifically for them .

thanks alot mark I have the lights enabled and I see where to manipulate the ring scanner put when I animate it nothing happens I remember seeing a really good video (I think it was Spanish) where the scanner goes across the patient and this wicked blue light spits out of the ring.  Any idea how to achieve this effect? Also when I render my ssene the outlines of the lights can be seen in the render how do I get around that, any help is greatly appreciated Thanks!

What I usually do for light beams and ray gun effects is to cheat.

I put a prop primitive cylinder or cone , with a texture and fairly high ambiant value that looks like a light. Use it with the spot light so you get light spilling on the surrounding area.

Make the room a bit dark so the lights show up well. Parent the props to the ring so they animate. You can animate the prop texture to turn it on and off.

The other way is to turn on atmosphere in the material room and make them volumetric lights. Check the manual for that.

There are some plasma materials in freestuff at runtimedna that can work well for this sort of effect.

thank you so very much that helps a bunch!  one last thing about lights in the properties area where you can checkmark VISABLE does that mean that if you uncheck that the actual light won't be visible or that it turns off the light outlines off.  when i add extra lights and render the scenes the outlines for the camera renders and I'm not sure how to turn that off

I use Poser 7 and the visible checkbox controls if the light is visible in preview. It doesnt render. It wont hurt to turn it off .
