I'm deleting my website with effect from February 2nd so if you want any free backgrounds of Wales, now is the time to get them, once the site is gone so will they.

Why are you deleting your site?

Out of work and can't afford to keep paying for something that isn't bringing me any benefits. The money would be better spent on putting food into my Family!

Why not try one of the many free website builders like Wix or Weebly (see links to my portfolio sites below). You wouldn't be able to have downloadable freebies but for an online portfolio/CV they're pretty cool.  You can plug all sorts of other free widgets and functionality into them too.
Most have pay for packages to upgrade the services as and when more money becomes available.
I saved a lot of money choosing this option and have even gotten a little extra work through them.

Sorry to hear that you are out of work.  How much are you paying to host your website? Have you ever thought about using the website to help bring in money? How much traffic does your website get.

I'm just curious because I'm in a similar situation.  I've been unemployed since August 2009 and the only thing that has been helping me are the websites sites that I own and the website that my wife owns.

I'm not trying to advertise but I made a free site there. they have allot of tools, it's all drag and drop and you can put up your freebie downloads.

There's still a cost as, if you don't own a domain, you must buy one from them at $39.95 for a single year. Granted this is still inexpensive, but not free which essentially what thefixer needs.. ...

LOL, Bobby yea, that's about it. The bad thing in all this is I've had to let my domain name go with my website so when I am able to get it going again, chances are my current name will have gone to someone else, but who knows eh!

All my freebies are being hosted by Ravynsworld at the moment, a big thanks to her, she has and still is a valuable friend to me.

The Whois I just did says your website is registered through March 24, 2010. So hopefully you'll get some work before that so you can keep it registered, or do a redirect, or more a web forward, to most of the pages on a free site in the interim. I do web address forwarding for one of my other registered domains to my regular site to keep the domain.

I was going to offer you a site to host your stuff free of charge but you've got it all worked out. The best I say to you at this moment is I'm sorry to hear that and I know the feeling. Right now I'm too looking for cheaper alternative to both registering and hosting my 2 domains. Ain't life a kick (in the rear?)

Not true.... I DO own a website domain, have hosting, ect... but I did not use it on this site. They gave me a place to park it free.

Again, not trying to advertise, just sayin you can make a truely FREE site without lots of hassle AND upload files, have a photo gallery, post your youtube vids, post flash files....etc.....
