If anyone can help, or has had this happen, PLEASE HELP me...the little time i have for poser has been eaten up just screwing around trying to fix this annoying anomaly...I even did a clean reinstall of poser4..no help..on verge of insanity...please help Thanks

Contact Curious Labs with that one...

Yeah that happens to me every so often. I don't know what causes it, but i usually reinstall the 4.02 update to take care of it. I think it was 4.02

3-DArena ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 7:53 AM

happens to me all the time. If I try to view the render above where it is currently rendering. If I let it finish rendering on it's own without scrolling up to take a peek it doesn't happen.

Usually this happens when you're running out of system ressources (imho) - It happened sometime on my older PC when I switched to another application ...

Jackson ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 8:52 AM

Please excuse the interruption, but are all you guys using nvida cards? I need to know cuz I'm about to upgrade my card and was considering nvida. I will no longer consider it if it causes problems in Poser. Thanks.

chrisjol ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 9:23 AM

I use an nVidia card and have had no problems although I shall probably regret having said that :-) Haven't upgraded my drivers lately

Schlabber ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 9:23 AM

Hey Jackson - :-P that's also true - in my old PC was a Riva TNT - the new one has a GForce - hmmm ... could also be ...

ClintH ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 9:36 AM

Thats not a video card problem. I have 3 systemns all with NVidia cards in them. 2 have GeForce MX 2 AGP 32mb cards and one has a old TNT1 16mb PCI based card. I run the NVidia reference drivers rather than the vendors drivers. All of my systems have 256mb of mem as well. Running PII and PIII CPUs from 400Mhz up to 875Mhz. Clint

It looks like something got interrupted. Look just behind the render. See the little Poser Render Dude? He's only partway across the screen and the blue bar is less than 50%. It's at about the right spot for where the render is normal. I don't know if this helps at all. It's just something I noticed.

chrisjol ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 11:33 AM

Try rendering to the main screen. The only time I have had render problems with downloaded PZ3s has been when they render to a separate window, and I cured it by rendering to the main screen.

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 12:19 PM

I use Nvidia cards in 3 of my system, and have two in this system, never had that happen to me. Marque

Thanks to all for the responses...it just seems weird that this is now happening, its never happened before. Its VERY frustrating...the only thing to do after that is close Poser and try again. Guess I will either have to reinstall the 4.0.3 patch, or just render to the main window. As for the low system resources, i should be ok..athlon thunderbird 900 mhz, 256 ram, and 32 ram for the geforce. As i said, this is the first time i have had this happen. Thats the freaky part..why now? Thanks again to all for the replies.. Kaneda

This isnt video card problem. Happened with me several times, mainly when I use a prop in a picture with two or more characters. When I render the problematic prop with only one characther its run well. I think is a kind of bug into Poser 4 that sometimes appears.

kaneda ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 7:40 PM

Thanks ohl, didnt think of that. However, had it happen with just the default poser dork in the casual stuff. I didnt scroll the pic or move the mouse or nothing...same deal. I took JeffH's advice and contacted curious..bout 30 min later got a reply.."try downloading the latest QuickTime installer.." Huh? Maybe the quicktime plugin widget thingy has gotten fubar..downloading now to see if curious is right. Kaneda

nevin ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2001 at 11:31 PM

Quicktime is a pain... anywho, I'm running an nVidia GeForce 2 MX card with the LATEST drivers (Pentium4/256mb RDRAM/Windows2000) and have had no trouble whatsoever. Don't know how this helps you... but the problem doesn't seem to be with the video card, as many posts have already pointed out.

Jackson ( ) posted Thu, 26 July 2001 at 9:00 AM

Thanks to all who responded about the video card. I guess nvida is still in the running. Haven't decided yet, though.

Freon ( ) posted Thu, 26 July 2001 at 3:11 PM

It is a video card (driver) problem, not a poser problem. I have never had it happen to me in Poser yet but get the same thing on occasion while surfing the net, reading email, etc. I havent pinpointed exactly what is triggering it yet, but a reboot makes it go away.

GrayMare ( ) posted Thu, 26 July 2001 at 4:17 PM

It happens every once in a while with my voodoo3000. I can't make it do it, it just occasionally occurs. I do know it seems more common if I do anything cpu/memory/video memory intensive while it's rendering. I've saved the renders and they're still all stretchy bad. GrayMare

Hey peeps..tried the new quicktime download, no luck. This is really killing the whole poser thing..yes, i can render to the main window, but then im limited to the size of the desktop...yes i can resize, but its just an extra set of hassles that i never had to deal with before. So for the forseeable future, im rendering to the main window. At least i can still enjoy poser, just have to get used to smaller renders.. Thanks to all for the tips and help. Kaneda

Hello, It was a corrupted file when something happened similar to me. I had to delete/reinstall the affected items (it was a mask prop) and everything was OK. Super

kaneda ( ) posted Fri, 27 July 2001 at 7:43 PM

Hey Super..You rock!! That was it!! I had 2 figures with the same props attached, got rid of em..everything works fine!! Thanks immensely for the fix..i really appreciate all the feedback from evey one, especially Super.. Thanks all Kaneda
