Subject: Vue 8I Install Question

Ridley5 ( ) posted Fri, 22 January 2010 at 4:22 PM · edited Wed, 24 July 2024 at 8:47 PM

Does Vue run better when  NOT installed in C:Program Files...does Win7 still cause problems with UAC active as Vista sometimes did..say when I update Vue or add new content to it?  I'm doing a fresh install of pretty much everything tonight, including Vue on my new machine...and I'd like to know the preferred location for installation (if there is one).

Program files is the best location. Win7 has UAC problems as well, but you can either run Vue as admin or turn UAC off, it's easier in 7 than in Vista.

Mine is also in Program Files, the UAC is turned off as it was when I had Vista. As Bruno says it's easier to turn off in W7 by using a slider.

Injustice will be avenged.

I run Vue8I on a Vista 64-bit machine.  While the machine has several hard drives, the C: drive is only 320GB because I opted for a faster one - 10,000 rpm vs. the usual 7200 rpm (dunno how beneficial that was; programs still seem to load about the same).  Anyway, to save space on that drive, I installed Vue and its resources on a separate 1 TB drive in a folder "Program Files" and it works just fine with no problems.  Also put Poser 8 in the same place.
