Subject: Poser 7 bug issue

johnthepatriot ( ) posted Tue, 26 January 2010 at 5:50 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 2:51 AM

It started a few days ago after a Windows Vista update... whenever a secondary window (ie: when I conform a figure to another, selecting lighting color, the render progress box, etc...) opens, it will not close, even after several minutes, and ultimately causes the program to loop-crash.

I have searched the SmithMicro website and found no reference to this issue.

Anyone else have this problem?  Found a solution?

It's making it very difficult to use Poser without being able to render :)

I don't know - undo the update. Use a restore point.

Last weekend I accepted Vista updates and now when I import photos from my camera they come in randomly corrupted. If I copy the messed up photos again from the camera, they're OK. There's something seriously wrong with the most recent update.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

There's something seriously wrong with Vista.  I could never get Poser to run right with Vista and went back to XP Pro.  Waiting for a while before the move to Windows 7.

 XP - Works
Sys 7 - Works
Vista - is really spelled "Viscous"

Roger that!!

Vista was the worst OS Mickeysoft ever released, and I hated Windows ME nearly as much.  I love my XP Pro 64-bit and am loathe to leave it.

Windows Updater often rolls back the Video Card Driver. Check to make sure you have the latest. I found that sometimes after the update did this, I had to uninstall the Video Card Device completely, reboot and let Windows find it, then install the latest Driver.

If you still have issues, contact Smith Micro Tech Support (Attn John in the subject and I will look for it)

I'm right there on the "The last update borked something in my system" crowd.  Between my Outlook not wanting to work, Chrome not wanting to update, and Photoshop just not wanting to stay open the second I touch my stylus to the screen, I was about ready to pull my hair out, but I rolled back, and haven't had any problems since.

the last windows update replaced my wacom drivers with the POS windows ones.  ZBrush freaked out and I swore...

Do you use Poser on its own or is it sharing resources like with Photoshop or the internet ? ...
reason i asked is because my Poser used to crash when i had any other program running along with it ...

Victoria_Lee ( ) posted Wed, 27 January 2010 at 6:53 PM

I use Poser with the internet running, along qith PS CS3 and, sometimes, Vue and DAZ Studio and I don't have any problems as long as I'm still using XP Pro 64-bit (or 32-bit, while I still had that one).
