On a 8gig dual core single  WindowsXP Pro  64 bit machine.Which is the best way to render an animation sequence? Do I render to another disc and to render in background using full frames uncompressed? I am open for any suggestions as my machine keeps locking up.My second machine is out of action for a while as I cannot afford to get it fixed yet.Cheers

rendering out as single frames lets you assemble in a video editor for large animations and if you do have a crash , you wont lose everything. Uncompressed or losless compression like png. If you use jpg you get a double compression which may leave artifacts.

I'm running Win XP Pro x64 (quad) and Poser Pro. I have found the best results rendering a series (or multiple series -- to reduce task sizes) of images to be the most effective.  Using Pro, I send the animation to the render queue, usually in blocks of around 10 seconds (300 frames or so). I can then assemble the frames as video clips in a video editing application.  (I render to uncompressed bitmaps.)
