I think either would be fine just as long as you show some shots of wire frame too.

right now I would just go for a clay render or an untextured render as your challenge render maybe add a link to your gallery to a textured version.

Looks great there are some areas you can clean it up depends on if thsi si hard surface or you plan on subdividing it in the renderer. I need to start mine i have an idea but well have a few other irons in the fire now and family but i will give it a shot. if you re interested there is a speed modeling challenge over at threedyd forums. OK took some time off and got started on mine still have to put a lot in transmission and soem struts and propellers. This is a steam powered flarecraft that relies on proximity effect and skims above the surface of the water.
