THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce 7 - You might want to save your newly created objects

OK so you've had fun with Bryce 7 but those of you that have created important stuff might want to think about what happens when B7 expires, which I think it is likely to when the FULL VERSION comes out.

Remember, B7 cannot save scenes to B5 or B6 formats.

Before it does expire, any objects that you've created should be saved in the Create catalogue. Just select all, group and add to a new catagory.

Then copy that catagory, which you will find in your presets/objects folder, and paste it into your Bryce 6 or Bryce 5 presets/objects folder.

I've just tried this out and it works fine.

I just ran across this reply in the Daz forum concerning saving for Bryce 7...maybe it will help.

"For now just save it as br7 and then change the extension to br6. It will load in Bryce 6 without a problem "

"For now" is the keyword there. While re-naming the extension will work right now, it might not later, in which case you will be boned, unless you do upgrade to B7.

Also, to remind users, this is imho, a very early beta you are using. MANY thing could change between the version you are using now and the final version. Meaning, any scenefiles that are saved now, might not look the same in the final Bryce 7.

That happened to me when we were beta-testing Bryce 6. I had made an hdri driven scenefile with an almost finished beta, and then included that in an article for 3DWorld magazine. The mag came out around the same time as a "fix" for the hdri section of the skylab, and my scenefile turned to mud to anyone that tried to load it. Lame.

I would agree with what TheBryster says, save everything as presets and back them up into your Bryce 6. Don't hang any important scenes on a beta.

Hi AnnieD.

I made some compatibility tests.
Technically I can open, and I opened, scenes done in the version 7 with the version 6.3, without problems.
As the Instance lab didn't implement new, mainly in the structure, difference that disables the opening for a previous version doesn't exist.
But it is good to do what TheBryster suggested.
The whole project of Brycetopia 2 that is composed of 5 kits is being made in the version 7.
To each scene that I end, I open her/it in the version 6.3 and I make a new one to surrender and I save in the 6.3.
The great difference that I noticed is due to the amount of objects and surrendering that is faster in the 7.
Another problem in the 7 is the delay in the export of objects.

Aw Bryster, I told you that before!

Might not work with versions saved under the next beta though.  We'll have to see.
