Well, now I'm curious about what sort of image the staff and administrator would have qualms about. Can you explain what happened?

i just wanted to comment, because i've been quietly following your gallery for a while now. i'll definitely miss your posts here. i'm very sorry you're leaving. i think it's always rewarding to have a space of your own, and you've already done so much with it that this will just be less work. i hope you find it easier to focus on the blog and your community there.

If you go look at his blog, his comic characters are gay. I suspect that might have something to do with it, and if it does, that's such a shame.
Maybe one day this world will learn tolerance. I guess some of us just aren't there yet :(

i think that's a major assumption. if you look at his blog, you'll also find his comic is very political. nothing against the TOS here or more inflammatory than your average political cartoon, but very political and very opinionated. that seems to me like a more likely issue than the characters being gay, since politics is kind of a third rail on most Poser/D|S sites i'm aware of. afterall, they've been gay from the outset, but i remember when Sean's gallery was more about general stories than particular current events and political opinions. there was a time when his stories weren't political, even if he did have several days of posting political cartoons, but now it's all pretty political. i mean, well done political commentary and nothing tasteless or insulting (imho), but against other sites' policies.
i'm not sure it's fair to Renderosity admin to jump to the conclusion that the characters being gay was suddenly a problem rather than the more recent drift to almost purely political proselytizing. like i said, he's had gay characters for years, but the focus purely on politics is fairly recent.
Well, I will be following Sean over to the Doc and Raider blog spot for my fix. I've lurked through much of his time here, and will probably be a lurker there as well. (Not being the vocal type myself...)
And since I so rarely say it to anyone publicly: Sean: well done and keep up the Good Works!
Guys, let's put the rumours to bed, okay?
No, it wasnt about the characters being gay. It wasnt about the political nature of things either. It was another issue altogether, and if no one minds, we'll leave it at that. My sole reason for posting in the first place was to let my regular readers know about this, rather than just have everything disappear and no one know why the gallery was gone. I just thought it was fair.
And thanks to everyone here for the kind words about my little blogsite. They are, as always, much appreciated.

There are lots of reasons for this sort of thing to occur. I recently removed all of my own works from another site because I had become more and more offended by what OTHER artists were posting, and no longer wanted to be a part of the general direction that site was taking. Nothing sinister... nothing repressive... as OP put it "this isn't the right place for my work." These things happen as we all develop as artists. BTW... Sean: Luv ur Stuff!
People can post their work wherever they want and close their gallery for any reason, but these decisions generally involve no discussions with moderators and administration as described in the original post. It's hard enough just to get views, let alone the attention of the Renderosity overlords.
Curiosity isn't an entitlement to an answer, of course, but it isn't out of line either in this case.

Historically speaking, western civilization has much more tolerant of such things in the recent past than it has been in quite a while. That statement has nothing to do with my opinion of the subject and is just a general observation. Whether or not we are tolerant enough yet or too tolerant is something that isn't appropriate for this forum I would imagine.

Because of certain conversations among myself, a couple of moderators, and an admin here, I've pretty well decided that this isnt the right place for my work. I'll still be around to talk in the fora, but insofar as posting imagery here... well, probably not such a great idea. Kudos to the admins, BTW: they have been very supportive of my work, so let's not interpret this as something anyone did, okay? For the most part, everything's good.
If anyone's interested, the comic strip continues at docandraider.blogspot.com, with a full archive of all back strips. Thank you to everyone who was a regular reader and commenter; it was appreciated more than you can know.
