Subject: Updated Poser 8 - Library shows Page Not Found

pigfish9 ( ) posted Sun, 07 February 2010 at 12:14 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 10:18 AM

I installed the latest update for Poser 8 and my libraries are gone and replaced with an Internet "Page Not Found" error.  I had this problem with my original install but there are so many responses to a search for Poser 8 library problems that I can't find the solution.  I was hoping the new installation would stop the memory issues--but I'll never know until I can get the libraries working.  I'm running on Windows XP Home.  Thank you!

I would suggest reinstalling your Adobe Flash from your Poser 8 Setup.  Some Internet Explorer updates can cause havoc, so you may need to monitor those installations closely especially if you allow Windows automatic update perform the procedure for you.

I'll try reinstalling the flash.  My Poser PC is not connected to the net and doesn't receive updates.

Mine did the same.  Right click, refresh fixed it.

I had this problem too when I installed the last service release for Poser 8 and this is what I did to correct the problem. I made sure I had the latest adobe flash version and the latest version of Internet Explorer. Having both of these and the newest P8 service release fixed the problem.

Regardless if your PC that has P8 installed is not connected to the internet or not you must have the most recent version of Internet Explorer  because it seems it is needed for the libraries to function properly. My PC that has P8 installed is also not used for internet but I still needed the updated browser for P8 to work right.

Also while you are at it make sure you also have the latest update for your graphics card as well.

I reset everything to the factory presets and reinstalled the Flash Player and Adobe Reader from the P8 disc.  The problem persists.  Any other suggestions?

I hate updating XP.  A recent XP update caused Windows to corrupt a Word file beyond recognition.  Does P8 run more stable after this latest update?

I had the same problem.

If you are not receiving updates, you have IE6, which will not work with the latest update.  You need to update to IE7. To get it, you need to run Wndows Update, and chose the button that allows you to install other updates besides the Critical updates (I'm not at a Windows machine right now-can you tell?!)  I also have it set to hide the IE 8 update (which is under Critical updates, but I don't use IE other than for Windowes Update, so I don't want it installed)  I have all of the updates other than IE8 installed on my XP machine.

You do not have to install all the updates Microsoft sends in their updates. You can select what updates you want to have installed from Microsoft by un-checking the boxes by those critical updates and just leave the updates for IE checked.

Now then, this only works if you have your settings set to let you decide what updates you want installed. If you have your settings set for automatic updates you may want to change them this way  you'll to be able to select what updates you want installed. I do not use auto updates for any OS or program I have installed on any of my machines.

As I suggested in my prior post you really need to update your browser for P8 to work well as far as the libraries go. I did not use the adobe flash that came on the disk for P8 I went straight to adobe's web page to download the current flash.
