Because that's how Smith Micro designed it. A common complaint is that with Poser 8 you frequently have to wait a while before the Library is "usable" .
I didn't know that. Huh. So will all of the apparent library activity diminish if I just let it run for awhile without futzing with it?

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

I am using the trial and if they dont figure this stuff out i wont upgrade.
I will check back here to see if any new ideas or info.

If you are using the Trial, make sure you install the latest Service Release. Also, if you are using a Tablet, uninstall the Tablet and reinstall the Tablet.
NOTE: The Trial Offer allows you to use the Full Program for 30 Days before being billed. If you decide you do not want the program, you must contact Sales and uinstall the Program fully to avoid being Charged for the Product.

Quote - Yes. P8 needs time to build up it's library. Generally, I start P8 and walk away for a couple of minutes. Afterwards, no problems.
So, wait... this isn't a one-time thing, then? It builds up the whole library every time it's opened?
If so, I can see the reason for the Runtime cleanup and mergers.
It still seems a bit klinky to me to have Poser forcing me to alter my Runtime habits, though. I likes my room messy. LOL

InTel Mac running 10.6.2 and P8 is the most stable build I have experienced yet other then the public beta of Poser Pro 2010.
Kim can you go into your render settings and click on the preview panel and take a screen grab or that panel and post it here.
What happens if you change cameras to say the aux camera? Does it behave the same?

Hmm. Smith Micro advises the deletion of preferences as one way of trying to correct some Poser errors. I tried it, grasping at straws, after Poser 8 once more drove me away when the grind-lag problem interfered with the user interface response.
While clearing my preferences and temp files, then, I found some sort of library error log in one of the Poser temp folders. I deleted it, unfortunately, along with all the other temp items, so I don't know what it was. It contained the same listing, as far as I could tell, over and over again.
Once I'd cleared the temp folders and deleted my Poser 8 preferences, though, the grinding seems to have stopped. The library seems more cooperative upon opening. So far, no troubles. And the library error log doesn't seem to have been recreated.
Hoping something is actually fixed, here....

Deleting my Temporary Internet Files, of which there were apparently many in spite of my almost never using IE for anything, seems to have helped further with Poser 8 library behavior.
Testing of nVidia and nHancer settings along with the Morph Brush reveals that the brush only jumps when I am using nHancer to force anti-aliasing. Under settings with which P8 opens anti-aliased but loses the anti-aliasing upon camera or room changing, the Morph Brush does not jump and additionally will anti-alias the preview while in use. Testing reveals that the Morph Brush handles fine in SreeD mode. Apparently my Morph Brush issues and anti-aliasing issues are linked somehow. It looks like I may have to choose between the two.
Slowly getting there, hopefully.

I've avoided Poser 8 (because of it's dependancies on Flash) but have recently come across the wonky Camera using Poser 6. Touch the Camera Widget and the Camera view goes nuts. Edit, Restore, Camera fixes the view but not the Camera interface. Touching the widget again causes the same problem. Hitting the Spacebar once DOES seem to fix the problem.
I've never, in all the years running Poser 6 on my Windows XP machine, EVER had that problem before. It's only on the my newer - Windows 7 - machine that I came across the problem. If the file is saved on THAT machine and re-loaded into Poser 6 on my XP machine the problem shows up there as well.
I'd suggest the camera issue has something to do with newer versions of Windows. I know Poser 6 wasn't written for Windows 7 (or Vista) and it's confusing to me that there's a problem in Poser 8 because that software IS written for newer versions of Windows.
I appreciate the Spacebar tip. That seems to fix the camea widget problem.
