Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 8:11 am)
Hey, I just figured out how to do it and I'd been trying to figure it out for a while. Cut us modellers some slack! UVMapper is great, but it's not too intuitive for me. My modelling program did give unique names, but UVMapper was assigning material1, material2, etc. when I saved the model and opened in Poser. Boy, was I a happy camper when I figured it out, but I don't feel like going back and re-doing the models I've made! I'm probably not the only modeller who couldn't figure out why all the nicely named items were turning into generic names by the time they hit Poser. I may make a small tutorial just about assigning groups to materials that because I certainly didn't understand how to do it for a long time.

I model some fairly complex stuff in Lightwave but I'm new to poser. My materials show up nicely in LW but somehow never make it throught the obj to Poser. A tutorial would be very much appreciated. I'd also be happy to host the tutorial.Attached Link: http://www.afn.org/~afn07395/UVMappertut/UVMappertut.htm
Thanks, but I can host it. I just need to get off my lazy butt and make it. Small chance I can get it done by the end of the weekend. If not, it'll be in at least 1 1/2 weeks. (Vacation, hee hee hee!) Nak Muay also has a tutorial explaining one of the UV Mapper functions I didn't understand. Boy, at this rate, I'll be a pro! This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. It would be nice if those making models, especially smart props or things that will conform to a figure, could, where possible, remember to pay attention to the names given to materials. It makes no difference as long as the figure is used within Poser, but many people like to export to other programs, and that is where the trouble starts. Programs like Grouper act on the material names, and if every item has its material called "Material_1" they will all be assumed to be the same object. Blank material names (which I have seen) cause other problems, including software crashes.
