im lost here guys , i could really use some help.
i need to have a chat with someone that really understand texture groups.
im working on a project that has multiple parts and some of them have way too many unwanted uv groups ....

allow me to explain ... i dont yet know how to model . im working on that . so for the time being to build the props and sets i need for some of the renders i do i cut and paste parts of freebie props i find on the net with the group edit tool .
i know , i know...... but before you freak . i only use these props for my own renders and do not re distribute anything i cut and past in poser
without the say so of those people that actually built the stuff i tear apart to kitbash into other stuff
however sometimes it leaves unwanted uv groups attached to parts of the frankiengeometry
.which means it loads a bunch of stuff that i really dont want before it renders
how does on go about deleting those groups that are not needed?????
uv mapper dosent seem to be able to delete unwanted groups .
is it somehow possible to get rid of them with a cr2 editer .
only the stuff im working on is proplike in nature , not a caracter so i have no idea how you would change the cr2 for a prop .
mostly couse props dont have cr2s .
i could really use some help

Could you show us an example?

CR2Builder is good for this. When you go to the page I linked to, click on "CR2Builder02m", then click on "CR2Builder02m12.zip Jan 22, 2007". Finally, on the Windows Live page, choose "CR2Builder02m12r.zip" to download the file. Extract it wherever you want.

To get rid of the unwanted material groups:

(1) In poser, go through and thoroughly confirm which ones you need to delete.

(2) RunCR2Builder.exe and open the prop file you want to edit (I'm guessing you saved them to the "Props" library), which will be in your Poser directory under "Runtimelibrariesprops". You should make a copy of the actual file and edit the copy.

If there is more than one "prop propname" item in the left pane, repeat steps 3&4 for each one.
(3) Click the [+] by "prop propname" to display the prop's components.

(4) I'm sure it'll be quite obvious what to do next, but just in case: select each "material" item that you wish to delete and hit the delete key on your keyboard. Once you are done deleting all of the unwanted materials, from the menu choose "LeftPage:Save" to save your file.

Today is a good day to...learn some advanced Poser tricks :-)

Material groups are stored in the obj file, not the cr2.   You may want to get one of the free modellers like blender or wingz and do your kitbashing in that. (havent heard kitbashing in ages)
