Subject: is it possible ( to make )a conforming clothe to be dynamic cloth?

softcris ( ) posted Sun, 14 February 2010 at 9:57 AM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 2:42 PM

Example: I have plenty of old clothes from V3, V2 I love! Can I make then a dynamic clothe for V4?
Can I make then fit in Clth Room (P8 or PoserPro 7) to V4, M4 A4?
Please will be appreciated to have a tutorial or some good tips of how to.
Thanks in advance.

You'll probably have more luck with this question in the Poser forum.

Your best bet at fitting one model's clothes to another would be to use something like CrossDresser or Wardrobe Wizard. Unless you model or are into resetting joint parameters and groupings, you'll have a hard time refitting one model's clothes to another without these ;o).

There are ways of turning a conforming clothing item into dynamic, but I'm not sure how, although I'm sure there are tutorials and folks like PhilC could help you if you ask them.

You can do it with a lot of clothing. It depends how it was made.

Try this first:

Import the clothing's geometry (from the Geometries folder). Deselect all the options except "Weld Identical Vertices"

Load a V4 figure, and scale her as required until she fits within the clothing. The go to frame 30 and set her back to 100%.

Run a simulation and see what happens. ;-) Hopefully V4 will expand into the clothing and all will be well. You can export the resulting mesh and use that in future.

If it doesn't work, it may be for one of two reasons. If the clothing falls to pieces, it's because of the way it was made. Sometimes you can fix things like buttons by adding them to the hard decorated group, but other items need remodelling which is generally not worth it. If you have the skill to remodel, you probably have the skill to make a brand new item anyway. I've noticed Billy-T's clothing is often like that.

Alternatively, the clothing may have "caps" that intersect the body and will cause the cloth simulation to freeze up. The Poser 4 clothing is an example of this, and PhilC has a tutorial on how to use it (at the link).
