softcris ( ) posted Sun, 14 February 2010 at 9:31 AM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 5:20 PM

Hello everyone that makes the dynamic clothing  - how abou tmake some new stuff for V4...she's out of clotles in her wardobre...  :)
I mean real HAUTE COUTURE stuff, that's what I mean when I say; dynamic clothes.
Dynamic clothing are in mind the best type of clothes..the type that makes the all scene not so 'hard' not so stiff....
Freebies for all...freebies for all l  Please, please! Please, please! Please, please!
Or a very good tutorial about how to make a conforming cloth to be dynamic!
Thanks in advance to read, and spread the idea so maybe soon we'll get some new stuff. Hopefully!!

Basic steps to make conforming clothing into dynamic:-

Load the figure into the scene.
Import the clothing's OBJ file. Select the option to weld.
Enter the cloth room
New simulation.
Clothify the clothing.
Set to collide against the figure.
Run the simulation.

If you find that something slips that shouldn't, a patch pocket for example then assign that item to the soft decorated group.

Run the simulation again.

That is pretty much it, not that complicated.

Hi PhilC..good to see you here! I was expecting to have a brief with you about that.

1- all conforming clothes can be transform in Dynamic clothes?

2- case I run the simulation, the OBJ will be able to re-use it (after saving!) as a dynamic clothe?

3- your amazing clothes for V3, can I do that same procedure into V4 body?wil work as well?

4- you had a TUNIC for V3 (not the 'Singlet' but a tunic open in both sides..can't find it here in my stuff but you surelly have it to be able to download again..maybe? please?

thanks for all and hope you'll answwer my questions.
Hugs
Cris

again: I try so far but the piece I used was breaking a part instead of go with the body. :(

Online Now!

To answer the first question, not all conforming clothing can be converted to dynamic.

softcris ( ) posted Sun, 14 February 2010 at 3:32 PM

Ok, thanks. I have to try or there's a way to find it before loosing time making all the procedure?
thanks

In my opinion, it's quicker and more certain to try it out than it is to pick the mesh apart in a modeller and search for all the features that might stand in your way. Do you have an example you can show?

softcris ( ) posted Sun, 14 February 2010 at 5:16 PM

still in cloth room..takes forever to make a calculation of the dynamics...a simple skirt..simple but quite draped etc...
after several freezes and re-starting the Poser...
let's see..maybe I'll not post it today..its very late here..
thanks ..

As I said in the 3D Modelling Forum thread, one of the symptoms of an unsuitable mesh is that it freezes Poser. In this case, with a draped skirt, it might be that the fabric touches or even passes through itself somewhere, which will cause problems for the simulator.

Quote - again: I try so far but the piece I used was breaking a part instead of go with the body. :(

If breaking piece is for example pocket, it means that this cloth cannot be dynamic. If clothing breaking for abdomen, chest and another body pats, it means that you did not select "weld" option importing obj.

Pockets are fine. Just assign them to the soft decorated group and they will stay with the cloth.

hi!
I did! I try at least 3 differents meshes (conforming clothes that importing as object will become, hopefully a dynamic one!)
1- the AS skirt did not perform well..so I forget it..
2- the other two skirts I did enter as object all 3 very same procedure! did well...but I did forgot to 'collide against' the floor too so now I'm fixing that...but in 30 frames did very well indeed. Point: the skirts where for for same figure V4. So not yet made a try with different model clothe to V4, yet! I'll,
Actually I found a tutorial here; where says make the model 'get' into the clothe..and then in the nxt 20 frame make the model at its normal full figure....it work wonders! I had to  twich a bit after..like making the hips a bit bigger and so..but that's gave me a fantastic result.
I'll be back.
thanks all!! hugs hugs hugs

I still say PhilC should make a Hybrid conversion program-script ala like a WW2 Plus version.

Conforming above the hip, dynamic below. My experience is that most of the intersecting cloth that drives the cloth sim crazy is above the hip. Most pockets are above the hip, except in pants. But for the most part pants are not normally connected or load as one piece with the top, So making them a hybrid is a moot point.

I would pay big bucks ( at least a dollar two ninety-eight) where I could bring some cloth into a program and it worked more intuitive in regards to the grouping function. where I could select polys that I want to remain conformed, and the program did all the rest of the work and kept the morphs intact in the conforming part or like WW2 let me add morphs not found in the cloth.

Hi there, PhilC !!
I read at your tutor:

Collision Offset:- Increasing will make the dress stand further away from the skin.

Collision Depth:- Higher will give the effect of thicker cloth.

Forgive my ignorance, but I can't find where are  these two above in the Cloth Room. Is there a new name for it now? PoserPro7.3 and/ or  Poser8.
Apprecitaed your say about it.
Having lots of fun in the cloth room now :))

Those are in the Cloth Collision Objects dialogue (when you press the "Collide Against" button).

softcris ( ) posted Tue, 16 February 2010 at 12:17 PM

hello again,
so far nothing goes right!!!
My cloth room freezes or won't make the stuff (regarding the 'conform' clothes to transform then into dynamic) others...like real dynamic it does the job.
Problem is that no even ONE dynamic cloth is really beautiful for V4.
All I got here from freebies are nothing special (sorry! don't want to hurt anyone, but I'm searching for something really special, something that I can make a  TRANS MAp for it and will result in a nice sexy gown or also a witch /angel gown.
I had made about 15 different tries between conforming clothes and also hairs...using the tutorial from PhilC for it and his 'wind force' tutor.
I also used the tutor from: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/tutorial/index.php?tutorial_id=2154&page=1
I end up tired and frustrated about...the wind force won't work in the entire hair (use from diverse hairs).
My plan is to make a V4 with a head down so the hair will fall over her face towards the floor.
So far ONLY frustration...:(
As said, I'll stick with the conform clothes for V4..so far.
V3 has a bunch of good, special clothes (dynamic) for her..but her young sister does not!
well ...back to square one!

Give us a list of the conforming clothes you have tried. I bet it is intersecting vertices that is the problem and why it freezes. Some just won't work as they are.

thanks but that is not my concerning..I don't want to go deeper into the problem...I just wanted it to work.
I'll try others....
I guess it's also a type of file..some are quite old..for Poser Pro,
Don't know.
I'll not give up.
But now I'll rest about it..it's enerving nothing else.
