Those nattering nabobs of negativism are everywhere. The luger's death was a tragic accident, but I think the Games have been great to watch on TV. The Opening Ceremony was amazing. The coverage is quite extensive, although since I changed cable providers, I no longer can watch them on Radio Canada, which always had superb Olympic coverage, albeit in French.
And no, I'm not Canadian.

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Boy, I think I jinxed them-the carnage during the Women's downhill has been amazing, and it isn't yet over...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Quote - Has anyone been following them? I haven't been watching them but from everything I hear it's been one disaster after another. First they didn't get enough snow in canada in winter. Then that one guy died on a luge test run. It really hasn't gotten any better but at least there haven't been any more deaths... though one athlete got death threats for wearing fur.
To clear up a couple of things... the Luge was during Practice not a test run and though it was tragic, the family indicated that he was afraid of the course. From everything I know, that in itself is when you should not continue, because those often become self fulfilling prophecies.
The Death threats was not at the Olympics.. Johnny (sp) Wier is the skater and I think that was either the US Nationals or World that he got Death Threats for the Fur.. he said he was not wearing any at the Olympics to avoid the distraction.
They have been fun to watch.. I actually have been able to listen to a few of the Hockey Games (womens and mens) and watched some of the Downhill, Luge, Snowboard Cross, and Halfpipe... The Speed Skating has also been pretty good... I like the Short Track the best, but have watched both.
I did watch some of the Cross Country and Combined, but our Service was out most of those so I ended up with just highlights.

CZE1 SLV 1 so far.
I thought some of the opening Opening Ceremony has some high points, but I found some of it a real snore and far to artsy fartsy for me.
I don't have a HD box, and may have broke down and got one because I find the coverage really lacking, but I have a feeling PRO 2010 may be coming soon and I'm saving for that.
Weather, not in a hundred years has it been so warm in Vancouver.
The oval and the "ice resurfacers", I wasn't aware zamboni was the default name (CZE2 SLV1), but now they are using zambonis.
Olympics and Controversy go hand in hand, I don't remember any Olympics with out them.
Over all I'm excited about the games, there isn't a sport in the winter games I don't like.
Besides hit render, watch Olympics, adjust materials, lighting and pose. Hit render rinse and repeat. (CZE3 SLV1).
