Is this him? I think I remember a tut on volume lights by him but I'm not sure. Anyway, check out this site...it may be him. That's the guy, Quest. :-)
I think the tut mentioned is this one:

You might try here for some more tips on lighting:

Yup, that's the Pinhead! Good catch, guys!
That, however, does not let Incarnadine off the hook. ;) He's much too good at lighting to let this opportunity slip by.
You know, this got me thinking about trends in renders. Everyone is so focused on getting that realistic GI lighting, we've really lost a lot of skills in the more artistic approaches. It's in every platform, and seems to be the measuring stick for how good a render engine is. Yeah, the old photorealistic debate.
scanmead,
I just LOVE doing things differently to get a more artistic look. I am tending more and more that way as I get to know software more and more.
Which is why I hope so very much that Daz does NOT get rid of Bryce's negative lights during all these updates.
We should render more with negative lights, and other artistic effects - can you say what artistic effects you've found? And like in Bryce?
BTW scanmead, here's a render in my living room using a volume Spotlight set to Infinite - took an age to render but here it is:
And here's the same spotlight created in Bryce7Beta2 with the same settings except "infinite light" is on too.
and here is the same scene in Bryce7Beta but with "Infinite Light" turned off:
Big difference - eh?

Is it broken, in Bryce 7 beta 2, Fran?

Anyone seen a good tutorial on using these? I used to know how, but when asked how to get them to work in this thread http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2792438 , and actually opening Bryce for the first time in ages, I couldn't remember the first thing!
I know Pinhead over at 3DCommune had one with nice, dusty light coming in through a window of a shack, but that's poofed. Anyone have an alternative, or know Paul's email maybe? Any nice, dusty volume light experts here?
