Subject: What a car

Darboshanski ( ) posted Fri, 19 February 2010 at 6:41 PM · edited Wed, 24 July 2024 at 10:39 PM

I have to say this is one hell of a car for Poser by Pretty 3D. It does all the things as far as being fully rigged I had ever hoped for but were always disappointed in other vehicles I've purchased AND the car just looks cool too LOL!

Found here at the friendly Renderosity Marketplace!

Peace out!

It certainly looks the business.  One for my wishlist, for sure.   I've never been disappointed with any car model I bought, here or anywhere else but I really like this one.

How well does it cope in Poser?  I have a superb Aston Martin model - and a free Batmobile (Tumbler version) which all but kill it.

I haven't done any serious renders in poser with it yet. It loads really well the whole model is a little over 15MB. Basically I wanted to see how all the features worked but most of my renders of this will be in Vue 7 Infinite.

Cheers!

@ Laurie - didn't even read the text.  There's enough in here to make me wince on a minute by minute basis anyhow.

@ Pagan - thanks for the info.  Will definitely buy this when I can.

Oh yeah!!!... Nice car, nice price, nice... well that's enough for now LOL. However.. I am looking at turning my latest car (a sprint dirt racer) into a poser unit. If you fancy a gander at the development so far just let me know and I will happily post an image here for you vote wether it would be worthwile idea or not (Grin!).

How about a 49 Myron Stevens Midget. Pre-roll cage. Have a real one of those totally restored and sitting in the Peterson Museum in LA. :)

Not our car but http://thegarageblog.com/garage/ebay-find-of-the-day-1935-single-overhead-cam-offenhauser-midget-race-car/

But if you are going to do a Sprinter, the Morales Brothers Tamale Wagon would be the one I would chose to Model :) (they were the kings of Ascot Park)
Or a Kurtis Kraft with a Miller engine :)

Not as old as the dirt they raced on, but close :)

As you can see from the Image, I have the base of the Sprint constructed. It was constructed in Hexagon and shown rendered here in Carrara7pro. The next task is to create the paint job for the shell and wings and then try rigging it in poser (which is one area where I am a total newbie). The midget looks like a good idea for my next projrect whilst I can modify the existing Sprint to become the Tamale Wagon.

There's a free BMW for Poser at ShareCG. Comes with poses for M4 and V4.

Thanks for your comments about the Sprint. Just gotta create a paint job for it and sort out the animation side (excuse me whilst I shiver in fear LOL).

To OP, very nice little car indeed! 😄

Looking at the product numbers, I say someone copied someone.
But it's also entirely possible they both got the car from another source.

Excuse me and don't want to degrade the thread. How many Ferrari's have been modeled? Ford Mustangs? If you go looking there are several of each. So they both modeled a Porsche. Claiming someone copied someone else's work is a rather bold statement to make based on appearance only don't you think?

You are entirely correct.
I based my case on observation only and not on the actual models.

My apologies. Better to think and investigate before making claims.

cherokee69 ( ) posted Mon, 22 February 2010 at 10:47 PM

Yeah, customer comments on hankster's GT go all the way back to 01/01/2004 so that should show people which has been around the longest.

Online Now!

If you look carefully at the renders there appear to be subtle differences in the shape of the front quarter panels, particularly near the hood.  The seam between those quarter panels and the front bumper is also angled differently in the two models.  I don't own either model (wish I did), but I think its safe to say that they differ in more than just the offered textures.

FalseBogus ( ) posted Tue, 23 February 2010 at 2:11 AM

I have both though I haven't made any comparison (yet).

But by taking a quick look at the promo pictures I found more few more differences than mentioned before.

  • Spoiler looks different and the other one has extra brakelight in it.
  • engine cover opens in different direction (you can find images of the real car with both directions)
  • rims are way different

Hanksters promos are propably rendered in max.
