I must admit, "The Perfect Storm" is not my favorite movie from either a story or acting perspective. But the effects are incredible! I had to try my hand at recreating this scene from the movie. Thanks to Kaom for the recent tutorial in wave design. Great technique! The boat is a modified model from the web, and the textures are all mine. There don't seem to be many entries so far this month... Maybe eveyone is playing with Bryce 5 instead... I've not jumped on that bandwagon yet though.

Good job! I'm glad my little wave tutorial could be of some help to somebody out there. It's good to see it in use. It looks like that boat is in serious trouble, they'd better go full throttle ahead; and fast! I agree, Perfect Storm was a pretty bad movie, but the effects are incredible. I recently saw a documentary on how they made the movie, they filmed a lot of it in a huge blue cylinder with a boat on a tank of water with mechanical stuff underneath it ot move it. That movie had some of the most realistic 3D water effects I've ever seen. Good work, kaom

Summer is perhaps always going to be a slack time. But also, this is quite a tough theme, and I'm very impressed by the quality of the entries I've seen.

Cool-ass render! That scene just screams death on a stick. Yeah, haven't seen the movie myself, but I can tell the CGI isn't to be denied. Tough theme? I thought it would be way easy, that's why I chose it out of a handful of ideas. Thousands of movies out there. There has been fewer entries this time around it seems, but some really great ones, I believe. This forum seems to have turned into the Bryce 5 bitch fest (for what seems good reasons), the next challenge will be probably have a bigger turnout. `Course there is still 4 days left(hint hint)...and I stiil have to turn in my "pure" bryce entry...(back to work) Great entry chanson! It's a tougher theme IMO because it involves modelling something specific, not just turning in a nice picture. If a challenge theme were "a cityscape" you can let your imagination run riot. If the theme was "cityscape of San Francisco", then you have to make your picture look recognisably like San Francisco - it doesn't matter that there are any number of possible views. Similarly here, any entry will be judged on "does it look like the actual movie scene?" rather than just "is this good art?".

Then you haven't read the original thread I wrote on this month's challenge... "And, even better, from a movie we know...show us a scene that WASN'T in the movie, but you wished it was...USE your favorite scene(s), DON'T just DUPLICATE it. Think about that scene, and ask "what if...?", or "why not?" With Bryce you really are the director, show us what YOU want and like". With the VAST amount of movies and themes anyone could find something they wanted to make a pic of, including a cityscape...so go let your imagination run riot.
