Subject: Prop Hair Question

I'm kind of a Poser newbee. Have used DS extensively for 2 years. I want to create a scene using V4 and BO Kat Hair. I create the V4 character and then apply the figure Kat Hair, which correctly appears mostly white on V4's head.

At this point using DS, with the hair selected, I can double click on the MAT texture I want to use and the hair in the display changes and renders ok.

According to the readme, I should be able to do the same thing in Poser 7. But the hair does not change to the texture and it renders as white.

I've tried changing the parent to V4 head but that doesn't do anything either.

Other hair for me in Poser 7 does the same thing.

I missing something someplace! Spent all day trying to get it to work.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

Once you have the hair fitting the way you want it, with the hair being the active item,   go to "Object" in the tool bar at the top of the screen and "Change Parent" and reparent the hair to the figure's head. The figure in this case would be "V4".

So far as the hair remaining white, it could be that the hair doesn't preview properly in the scene, but will render properly.

Also, what do you have your style settings at?  The style settings is that row of 12 dots. If you click on the down arrow above (or beside, depending on how you have Poser set up), you can change the style.  Pick "DocStyle".  And pick the dot all the way at the end..."Textured"  See if that works.

Thank you.

I've already tried parenting the hair to V4. It still renders as white.

I'm using the textured display to view before rendering. The rest of the scene looks good.

a mat pose should work fine. Ensure the hair is selected before applyring the mat pose.

I got the prop hair to work this morning using a brand new V4 figure.

However it does not work when I change the hair on an existing figure.

What I do is select the hair, delete the object and then add the new Kat Hair. When i sleect the new MAT texture it does not work.

Do I have to delete the old texture somehow or clear out the old hair in a different way?

Thank you.

This sounds like the mat pose is referencing the first figure in the scene, if it works with a new V4...
What happens if you load two V4's add the same hair to both and then change the color of the second V4's hair? Does the first V4's hair color change?

Thanks. I'll have to give that a try and see what happens.
