Subject: OT: Someone from Chili here?

bopperthijs ( ) posted Sun, 28 February 2010 at 12:53 PM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 4:45 PM

I was wondering if there's someone here who lives in Chili and still has an internet connection. My brother in law lives in Chili, about 50km. from Santiago, and we haven't heard anything from him since the eartquake, so we are very worried.
I'm trying to find someone who at least can tell something about the situation there and because this is a worldwide forum, I hope someone will reply.

thanks in advance,

Bopper.

Have you tried the RED Cross ?  the used to arrange a contact to pass messages where the phone systems were out.

There was at least one member at renderotica, but havent heard from him yet .

Heres a link that might help  LINK

I have a former colleague who is now at the Universidad Austral de Chile, and their site is down, which I'm sure is pretty typical...

I just heard from my other brother in law, that he and his family are allright, but all the power- and telephonelines are down, so he had difficulties to contact us.
Thank god nothing happened to them.

I have only few lines of news from Talca.
They have water, no electricity, the house of the person that send the message had not suffer damage and the situation is much worst than reported by TV, are speaking about a death toll about 1,500 and a tsunami with 10 meter waves washed out a lot of small towns around the coast few minutes after the quake.

Stupidity also evolves!
