Very interesting! I had never tried Collada import so I set up a file in DS and imported it into Vue 8 Complete. The rigging is there and you are able to repose all you want. I couldn't repose the collada export from Poser. The file imported but there was no rigging. That's probably due to me not knowing what I'm doing.
I think Vue ignores rigging from other apps and uses its own internally for VOB format.

How do the materials look in render? Are there any tears in object seams? Do clothes come through, or just figures?
In theory, collada materials are supposed to be the same in any app.

Only Poser Pro will export collada with the rigging - normal Poser doesn't export rigging

Richard - have you tried people models wearing clothes? Do the clothes have to be posed separately?

I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!

Yes! The clothes need to be posed separately when useing Collada to import your characters.

estherau, Vege-Mite,
With the latest beta-version of DAZ Studio (version 3.1.0.36 which is a beta for the release of DS 4.0) the collada export was updated and it does now support conforming clothes. The clothes follow the figure when posing in Vue and the morphs in the clothing are correctly baked. Currently there are some other minor issues in the beta and I would not recommend switching yet (problems with scaling morphforms and reflection settings), but once those issues are woreked out Collada export from studio will be an excellent way to move Poser type content to Vue.
Shari123: Vegi-Mite is talking about posing direct;y in Vue. With the previous version of collada, the clothing became an independent figure and you had to pose it by hand to match the figure.

The standard Poser 8 collada does not export the bones, so you cannot pose those in Vue. Apparently, Poser Pro does have export of rigging and thus the models should be poseable in Vue. However, I do not have Poser Pro and thus couldn't verify that.

Vue seems to be left out of Poser Pro's 3D app partner list. So e-on has to do any heavy lifting to get Poser Pro figures to work in Vue.

Just that - is it possible to pose Collada models in Vue 8? Can Collada models be saved with rigging etc?
This may lead to a Vue 8 upgrade - it would be a very useful feature now that I'm not using Poser any longer.
Thanks
Richard
