Subject: Art or Porno? your opinion?

I have just posted my most controversial pic in the gallery. The title is "Impregnation." No... it's not what you think! When it appeared on the News Groups my web site traffic doubled for a few days. Sadly, I got little or no feed back. Comments please. Christine

I am not in the habit of posting comments to artwork that is "not my style". But as you asked for Comments I will give you mine. I think you have mastered the tools you use. You use some great textures and lighting and have come up with a great look (that chrome look). Most of your work that I have seen has some sort of sexual,Bisexual, sex change,"is it man or woman" look to it. As an artist I think you have a lot of tallent. One thing to keep in mind is this type of art is not for everyone and some find it odd. If you don't get a lot of comments on your work, you might try posting something... Uh.... gender positive and see how that works. Rember there are a lot of young viewers here. This is just my option! Spike

I have to agree with spike, it's a little much. But it's not the only one , I just visited the poser gallery and was a little shocked. There are images in the gallery that you have to pay for on other sites to see. Censorship aside I feel that we as artist have a responsibility to keep in mind that this not an adult site. I thinks its close to porno but it is still far more artistic than some of the other pics on the forum. I agree with markm this is not an adult site and i think its time to clean up the site a little and i don't mean removing the nudity from the site (I for one use nudity in my images) but lets remove the adult themed images

This image was removed from the gallery due to complaints. Sorry!

I missed the image so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here, but. As with any artistic medium there will be erotic and odd art. Perhaps it would be in the best intrest of all of us to create a gallery for that type of art.

Dinna find it at all, cause I didnt find the website. Please tell me cause Im interested in the "problem" - there will be a boost in erotic stuff soon, so let us find a solution for/against the censorship ("we dont like to, but we have to remove ...")problem. A year ago, I tried to found a webring (was an other guys idea), but nobody ever took part, so I dumped the website - its still dumpling... could revitalize it again ? Personally, Im of course not interested in erotic stuff, but I made the observation that many humans regard it sort of as their meaning of life, which is probably why it takes on so many meanings. Whats yer website, anyway ?

Stormrage ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 1999 at 11:47 AM

Chrisa.. Just send you an email Omni 3D (formerly known as Poserotica) will be happy to host "Impregnation" as well as any other erotic art you have. As you know I am open minded enough to post "controversial" art as this. For anyone else who might be interested in having your erotic art posted on Omni please let me know. Omni can take the heat off Edgenet by providing a gallery for this type of art Stormrage

Spike ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 1999 at 12:03 PM

Thanks Stormrage for giving all artist a place to post. My post above was not intened to get anything started or to piss off anyone. so if it did, I am sorry. I do however understand why fur pulled this piece and many like it. This fourm is growing and is getting more trafic by the day. We need to have standards. Maybe there should be a gallery just for this type of art? With a warning before you enter? This could make everyone happy. Just a thought Spike

Spike.. Omni 3D has always allowed erotic art. The gallery has a warning page on it and is rated with Rasci Netnanny Cybersitter and others. i used to run and still run adult sites so I make sure that parents are warned about what is on the site. The gallery has always been there.. i was just not able to access the Forum until it split or the newsgroup until lately to let anyone know it was there. S I agree that children use this site as well. That's why I posted the announcement that Omni will accept the erotic art. Not to hurt edgenet but to offer an alternative Stormrage

Okay, I saw the pic -its certainly very well done. About the sex-related content, there isnt anything that wouldnt be surpassed by any issue of "Heavy Metal" Magazine or others (which is just a cult comics mag and not porn or some such) - really nothing to get all excited about. Definitely interesting, why warn anybody to look at it? I mean, that "warned somebody" might never develop the fine art of imagination? Should we warn people they "might rather not want to" enter a church cause they might see a guy getting nailed to a cross ? My, my...

Chrisa ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 1999 at 12:42 PM

That is a most interesting thought. Yes... a warning runs up the flag and those who have charged them selves with the task of policeing our morality run off to see whats happening.

Spike ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 1999 at 12:52 PM

Hey Chrisa; I guess you got a lot of comments this time around :) Spike

Sure is the warning that got everyone up! Funny no one's ever commented or complained about the Hermaphrodite pics in the gallery that have been there for years it seems...even thru all the previous censor debates. Foxhollow (ducking the stampede to the gallery)

SewerRat ( ) posted Wed, 13 October 1999 at 6:51 AM

myself, I'm scared of churches (I'm serious, that wasn't a joke) an empty church, with a huge statue of a guy nailed to a cross (a very evocative image) with stone people gazing down at you....it's not exactly a phobia, but hey, it makes me more uncomfortable than I'd have to be =) Then again, remember the tim allen movie "Jungle to Jungle"? It had a picture of Tim Allen wearing nothing but a snake. And there are many underwear adverts, all shown on the side of busses......if that can be shoved in our face, and yes, in the face if liddle sweet innocent kiddies, why are we really complaining about pictures on a forum where we have to actively seek out the content? We have tags to warn us about the content. So anyone still looking wants to see the picture, sex related or not. As for keeping it away from the children even if they want to see, honestly, it's not hard to get access to sex-related sites, even with things like netnanny running not that that's going to stop the censorship debate of course, but at least I can say I tried SewerRat

matlock ( ) posted Wed, 13 October 1999 at 9:25 AM

Okay, lets get it straight : kids do not belong in this forum (neither in churches)! Poser itself could easily warp any kids mind, I guess lotsa them guys here are actually just some of those brats, I know fer sure I am. Err.. So lets get the hell outa here, last one close down the server, please ! And lets butn all underwear when were outside - may the circle be unbroken...
